Lakeside 2016

Recommended Posts

If it isn't Lewis Bridger, then we have about 8.85 points available. If it is, then about 2 points under the limit.

The first is purely statistical, whereas the second is , sadly, most likely.

Great news about B Ped, I said at the time of the signing we didnt need another old rider way past their best like we have had recently with PK and Watty.

Hopefully now the promotion will sign a young rider with potential to improve no not Bridger!!

Any ideas then? KL can't find anyone and Leicester have had to settle for a Lakeside cast-off from 2013.

BP has taken the mickey for too long on the British Speedway front. So glad we don't have to endure the waster again in 2016.

Good luck to the other European teams who have to put up with him.

Bridger it is.

Bjarne he isn't. A second heatleader he isn't. A team player he isn't. Good on away tracks he isn't.

Talented he is. Exciting he is ( at least he is at Lakeside).

He won't put Lakeside in the play offs but he will keep Lakeside away from the bottom of the table, and he will be a big asset in helping the Hammers to keep a good home record which will be essential in this years league, with a lot of teams that will struggle away.

I would rather have had Bjarne, but Lewis is probably the best of what's left and if he is as spectacular as he was in the last few months of 2014 he will get a few extra punters through the turnstiles, so we have to give him (another) chance and see how it goes.

Not really surprised that it is Lewis - who else was there?

With all due respect to Bjarne, he is in the twilight of his career and his signing focused on the immediate short term. Lewis has several advantages - younger, British, has worked with Jon Cook in the past and they know each other well. Additionally, he now has the benefit of team backing to further his undoubted talent on a speedway bike.If his head is in the right place then he will be very effective, especially at home.

This could go one of two ways.....

1) He has matured whilst away from direct contact with speedway, hits the ground running, puts 2 points on his average and also wins the British Final and the ELRC...

2) He hasn't matured whilst being away from direct contact with speedway, he has a bad start to the season including EF's and a couple of niggling injuries and retires again by May..

What do you Lakesiders think?

I believe the caveat was in my post 'if his head is in the right place' and I will leave it there.

Changing the subject slightly, at least the Hammers Team more or less now appears on the SpeedwayGB website, I say more or less because Kim Nillson does not appear!

Sure Bjarne is in the twilight of his career and past his prime. But one thing you do get with Bjarne is that he is 100% professional, and totally reliable. Don't throw what about Leicester, because it was clear he had major issues with the promotion and track.

He was excellent for Poole and Eastbourne, and rides Lakeside well. Clearly it was a cost cutting move. No offence to Bridger but he will be cheaper, and no where near the points scoring power of Bjarne.

A move that will take Lakeside to the battle of the spoon.

Well he has got that gym/fitness thing going on, so obviously looking after himself. Be interesting to see how he does.

Last 20 x EL matches:

Lewis Bridger: 88 rides / 159 points / Average = 7.23

Bjarne Pedersen: 91 rides / 149 points / Average = 6.55
