TonyE
Seems like a good idea in principle, but a proper BSPA press release is conspicuous by its absence. Nothing new there then.
g13webb
Interesting that Swidders is said to be on a "bargain" average of 3.87 . Well, it's only a bargain if it means he squeezes in just under the points limit. If they have two or three points to spare anyway it's not a bargain. Does this mean the points limit has been reduced ? We shall have to wait and see but it will be interesting to see if Kenny Bjerre squeezes in anywhere now. It has been hinted that Lynn can now slot Kenneth Bjerre into draft Tier 1 . After all his CMA is well less than Newman Kerr, and such....
beckettlion
How on earth did Swiderski's average get so low?! I don't remember him doing that badly at any point in his EL career. If Pedersen rides to anything like he did before last season Lakeside could be a dark horse this year. Swiderski was arguably one of the worst riders Ive seen in Lions colours and that includes the 'cubs' that used to have friendlies against MDL opposition! Think he pulled onto the centre green more often than finishing his races, was with us about half the season and cant have won more than 5 heats. Started as second heat leader, ended up being carried as 5th member of the top 5, often getting beaten by whatever weak reserve pairing we had out that week. That being said, I dont think he ever really wanted to ride for Leicester and I think there'll be a lot more effort with a Hammers crest on his chest

The Voice Of Reason
With all due respect, and based upon the raft of riders that have signed (and subsequently left) Leicester Speedway since their appointment to the Elite League, there are clearly some fundamental problems with the promotion/behind the scenes management, of that particular club. Swidders is a really decent bloke that, whilst admittedly past his best, always tries hard. I've chatted to him many, many times when I was a Machine Examiner at Lakeside. He's a quiet, unassuming man devoted to his family BUT also committed to British Speedway. I don't think many Poles over the past few years have demonstrated his reliability or passion to ride here. It will be interesting to see whether he can still deliver for Lakeside - time will tell. But I for one welcome him back with open arms. He's an absolute gentleman.
liam
Can't say Iam impressed with Swiderski, poor signing. Hope he's just a replacement for the odd meeting Kennett and Lawson are not available.

E I Addio
Is the EL having a squad system this year? I haven't seen anything official - perhaps someone could post a link for me. Thanks in advance. No formal announcement. I think some people are getting ahead of themselves with the word squad. It may well be something similar to the sharing of one berth by two d/u riders that we had a few years ago. Not the sort of squad system we see in Poland. Interesting though, that Dennis Jonsson is being given a try out. Will we eventually see a second Jonsson in the side?

Thanks in advance. I haven't seen anything offer than gossip about squads coming in this year. It's meant to happening in 2017 however, confirmed. arnieg
Today's Speedway Star, referring to Swiders as Lakeside's number 5 tends to back up E I Addio's hypothesis that we are only looking at job sharing for double uppers so Liam may be disappointed. Can we please please please have a straight forward statement from the BSPA outlining this change Is it really too much to ask?

Not sure why the club would do that to be honest. Why not use swiderski when one of them is not available?
Alan_Jones
So Kennett and Lawson are sharing a spot? Not sure why the club would do that to be honest. Why not use swiderski when one of them is not available? Maybe it's a return to the previous shared double up position rule. Jon Cook muddies the waters by saying, in the Speedway Star, "We're keen to run more of a squad this season to take advantage of the changes made at the BSPA and best cover for the unavoidable clashes that are the nature of of modern speedway." Presumably because it is not within the guidelines of the new 'secret rule' we are not being told about.
SteveLyric2
Surely Swiderski as the lowest average rider (excluding the reserves), will cover for one of the 2nd strings/double uppers and it'll be r/r for the other if they are both missing the same meeting?! It was stated in the official BSPA announcement following the AGM that 'no guests would be allowed to cover for missing 2nd strings' - only r/r!! Well that's perfectly ok when only one is missing but when both are missing there has to be a solution. Maybe wrong to call it 'squads', but in essence that's what it is, rather than naming a weak number 8 to cover!!

Speedwáy Star muddied the waters by uplifting a comment that was on the Lakeside website a week ago and re-issuing it as if it's a new comment. At the moment Cooks comment is the only announcement of any kind on the topic. At the time the comment was made he also said there would be an announcement of the full Hammers squad shortly which seems to imply there might be more names to come. There has been no further announcement so far but it may well be that the promotion are saving it for the fans forum in 3weeks time.
