blueherb777
The BSPA are a joke! says it all when Lakeside announce the news of a squad! Â Great news. If it gets rid of Guests/R/R then all the better.
SPEEDY69
Squads are a poor idea in my view as some teams will simply pick specialists for each track and I think it will further irk the fans.
E I Addio
Â Interesting that Swidders is said to be on a "bargain" average of 3.87 . Well, it's only a bargain if it means he squeezes in just under the points limit. If they have two or three points to spare anyway it's not a bargain. Does this mean the points limit has been reduced ? Â We shall have to wait and see but it will be interesting to see if Kenny Bjerre squeezes in anywhere now. Pirate Baz
I thought they already had 7 riders before they announced these two. I assume then that they ditched Lewis Blackbird when they signed Lewis Kerr?
Aces51
It's not difficult is it. Â Now let's all remember, we've agreed these new squad rules, we don't want anyone jumping the gun and announcing anything, particularly without a full explanation, until we make the official announcement first thing tomorrow explaining exactly what we've agreed and why. We don't want to look as if we couldn't organise the proverbial trip to the brewery do we.

We don't want to look as if we couldn't organise the proverbial trip to the brewery do we. It depends on what is meant by "squad" . We have yet to find out but it COULD be something as simple as Ed Kennett and Rich Lawson sharing the same berth. That is nothing new . In the past we have seen D/u riders sharing a job, for example Phil Morris and Stuart Robson have shared a role at Lakeside as have Robbo and Kauko Neiminen. Â Jon Cook is not the most accurate person in the world when it comes to making quotes and it may be that he his referring to job sharing rather than squads in the normal sense of word. I suspect that is the case but I don't know. We'll have to see what else leaks out. It's not the sort of thing the BSPA normally make a formal announcement about. liam
Nilsson is riding, well at least I think he is, not seen anywhere to suggest otherwise.
SteveLyric2
This is all about covering for the 2nd string double-downers when both are missing the same EL meeting! Â r/r for one and a regular replacement (squad member?) for the other to appease the majority of fans who forever complain about the over-use of guests!! stevebrum
It depends on what is meant by "squad" CVS explained that whilst it was to encourage more of the top boys to 'share' a number one role if could include job shares for any of the positions. semion
Poor Leicester and Kings Lynn cannot complete their teams and there's Lakeside working with 8 riders.

JamieE
How on earth did Swiderski's average get so low?! I don't remember him doing that badly at any point in his EL career. If Pedersen rides to anything like he did before last season Lakeside could be a dark horse this year.

In his rides im not sure he completed a full lap combined!
foreverblue
Getting back Swiderski is a mistake in my opinion, the really struggled last year just can't see any reason why next season should be different.
E I Addio
Getting back Swiderski is a mistake in my opinion, the really struggled last year just can't see any reason why next season should be different. One reason is that he can't be much worse than the variety of guests that turned up at Lakeside last season. Secondly, although he is perhaps not the man he once was he has always been a track specialist at Lakeside, with a long record of good service for the club, so will have the crowd behind him which makes all the difference to a rider, and thirdly he was brought in at 5 at Leicester which is a bit above him but as a second string, he should have the experience to get him through. Â I agree he probably won't pull up any trees away from home but Lakeside's immediate problem after last year is to start winning a few home matches, and Swid has proved himself capable of winning heat 15. In fact if my memory is not playing tricks on me he best AJ when he came with Leicester last year.
TonyE
It is not inconceivable that Swidders could turn out in a reserve position!
Bagpuss
Seems like a good idea in principle, but a proper BSPA press release is conspicuous by its absence.
