Mick H
So, is Blackbird in the team or not?? This is something that needs thrushing out.
NickRushbrook
I think you'll find your original identity was to have been claret and sky blue until Essex Radio came in as sponsors prior to launch of the track and the colours were changed to theirs. I seem to remember seeing pictures from a practice session of the original race jackets. I'm sure Bryn Willams will have the facts tucked away somewhere. I came across the following link which shows you are correct! https://www.flickr.com/photos/70179951@N03/6921328007/ Here are the Hammers of 1984 in their original race jackets.
RobMcCaffery
I came across the following link which shows you are correct! https://www.flickr.com/photos/70179951@N03/6921328007/ Here are the Hammers of 1984 in their original race jackets. Thanks very much for confirming that the memory's not quite gone yet. They weren't the first (or last) team to have to suddenly change race jackets due to sponsorship. There was the case of the White City Capital Rebels that very swiftly had to become the White City LBC Rebels. I was lucky enough to commentate on the video of the first speedway meeting staged at Arena in 1984 - I think it was the Essex Radio Championship, won by Rye House's Bob Garrad. Who would have thought over 30 years later that all we would have left in the London area were Arena Essex and Rye House. Where did it all go wrong? PHILIPRISING
HAD lunch with Kelvin yesterday. Has already heard from Bjarne Pedersen who feels he has a new lease of life and is really geared up for the Elite League in 2016. Kelvin is excited about his new role and feels that it will dovetail nicely with his role with Sky Sports. Already has a good rapport with Andreas Jonsson who, he says, had offers from almost every other Elite League team but turned out better financial deals be cause he wanted to ride for Lakeside. Kelvin's mechanical expertise could be of particular value in the Lakeside pits but he is also looking to working closely with the Hagon academy.

Sounds promising regarding Bjarne really hope it works out. To think some on the Lakeside forum doubt AJ's commitment to the club.

Reviresco
The Club's website and twitter announced yesterday that ticket prices were being frozen at 2015 levels. Also the statement went on to say that: 'We are currently assessing the fixture clashes involved for Rich, Edward & Kim to ensure we have the maximum availability possible and we hope to announce further rider news after the BSPA meeting next Tuesday.' Does the reference to 'Rich' mean that Richard Lawson has been re-signed for this season, or may be after the fixtures have been assessed or, as usual, have I missed something somewhere? http://www.lakesidehammers.co/vortex-hammers-price-freeze/

If you go on the website and click on 2016 Hammers there are photos of 7 riders, 6 have their names under the pictures but the other one doesn't . But he does have Richard Lawsons name on his bike ! It looks like they are sorting out fixtures with Glasgow before final confirmation. I think the fixture list is due out in a week or so time, which seems to tie in with the BSPA meeting, so that appears to be the hold up. If Rich is the final rider it should bring them to less than a point short of the points limit which is about as close as its realistically possible to get.
Phil The Ace
Erm............. do lakeside know something the rest of us don't? They had 1 place left to fill but this morning announced the signings of Richard Lawson Piotr Swiderski Meaning they have 6 riders for the top 5. So either the rules have changed and it's 8 rider teams They will job share for the season Or they are dropping 1 of the top 5 already

BSPA making even more of a mess of things than before if possible. Quickly losing interest in the sport as it's beyond fixing. It's becoming a joke now. looks like squads as more riders to be announced. Bad idea The full 2016 Vortex Hammers squad will be announced by the Club shortly with Cook explaining: Were keen to run more of a squad this season to take advantage of the changes made at the BSPA and best cover for the unavoidable clashes that are the nature of modern Speedway. mdmc82
is one of the fast track reserves positions bring scrapped? No. It looks like because Kings Lynn and Leicester messed up with team building, Buster & co have now decided squads are the answer. Not very fair on those who did work hard to complete their teams
