However, having said that, visiting riders are generally coming to terms wit it. In one breath you say the Hammers won't compete with top clubs until they sort the track out, in the next breath you tell us they have a home advantage. Make your mind up. Mainly because it was a new track to a lot of EL riders who had never ridden there plus the way Ronnie Russell set it up. Riders who bad mouth the track are just looking for an excuse for a bad performance. They should be more dimensional that simply letting the throttle go for four laps. Mainly because it was a new track to a lot of EL riders who had never ridden there plus the way Ronnie Russell set it up. As time as gone on most riders visit twice a season and it's not set up by the track man to be so tricky so theres less of an issue. I think that is true. Over the years Ronnie has hardly established himself as one of the worlds leading track experts. Gerald Richter, who does the track now was doing it at the back end of the Ronnie Russell era, but I think the problem was more to do with the sort or material that was used (or lack of it) , than the way Gerald did the track. At present , Torun fits that bill as any good rider can perform well at the track. Hyde Road was the same. if you look at the BLRCF Results , Belle Vue riders only won it on a few occasions despite having world class no1s riding on their own track. Kim averaged 5.38 & Kennett 5.49 away last season! I know both are Arena track specialists, maybe we couldn't get the 2 riders we were after & are going for no losses at home to keep the attendances up? I think Bech on a 6.16 average (& an away average of 6.40) would have been a better signing. He has a lot more potential, especially as he is only just turned 21. Let's wait to see what is said about it all in the official press release. Any ideas of the reserves averages anyone?
