Starman2006
I thought it looked fine, but I thought that after the other practice sessions. all systems go for Friday after today tho so obviously riders were much happier. There was that little extra throttle being given on the troubled bends so hopefully it's all sorted. Track is not soft now according to lemo. It's rock hard. So fingers crossed we can put the track issues to bed. Good pleased they went flat out on bends 3-4 to really test it, all being well, its stood up and your good to go..

Aces51
Looking forward to Friday but the forecast isn't good. It's not brilliant for Monday either but hopefully, more time for that to change.
damosuzuki
Belle Vue fans - any idea yet as to when the postponed home match vs Poole is taking place. I fancy a trip down but seems to have gone off the radar.

Daniel Smith
Nob You call him a nob but I think it's fair to question the viability of big Speedway events in Manchester. Ok, Manchester isn't the wettest place in the Britain, but it's right up there out of all the British Towns & Cities Manchester comes 4th in the number of days rain per year @152days Manchester comes 8th in the amount of rain per year @87cms The North West as a whole actually tops both these charts as regions These are facts and in the future, if things constantly fall foul of the weather this will be taken into consideration by the FIM / BSI. Lets be honest, Belle Vue have run over a large number of black cats since the official opening. Belle Vue need a good run in the fixtures now to relieve some of the pressure but these weather factors could be troubling.

Its really not going to help there cause. And not even covers will help before somebody screams that.. OveFundinFan
but there has only been Manchester City Council willing to cough up the money for a nice modern stadium, I dont see Coventry Council or Swindon Council or any other council ready to support a track. Instead of criticising the fact BV has a modern stadium with what is proving to be a very good race track, why not get behind it and celebrate that Uk has a nice modern speedway stadium within a couple mile of a large city centre with all that has to offer. That thread I posted earlier shows that lots of meetings have been rained off this year already, something to do with the environment I believe. ouch
At the end of the season Belle Vue won't top the charts for weather related call offs out of all the UK circuits. In my opinion. Edited May 22, 2016 by ouch

Suppose it'll help on that front by the fact the Belle Vue's EL home fixtures don't really kick off until June

nw42
In your opinion. What they gonna do, shove a roof on the place.. If you had been anywhere near Manchester yesterday and had seen the amount of rain that fell you would have been amazed that a meeting was actually started in the first place, the drainage system obviously works well. The deluge that came after ht12 made it potentially dangerous and the right call was made. I'm also fairly sure that if the rain had eased off they would not have had to wait long before they could have resumed racing, unfortunately the heavy rain continued and a call off was inevitable. So, however much more rain Manchester gets than other UK cities will be cancelled out by the excellent drainage system. On racedays when it does rain heavily they will still have chances of running as long as it eases by late afternoon, not many tracks would be able to do this. You're just going to have to accept that Belle Vue being the most famous club in the World, with the proudest history, were always going to be the custodians of the National Speedway Stadium. You should come up and have a look sometime, there's loads of room.

Still doesn't get away from the fact you get more rain than most, and no matter how good your dranage is its not going to save meetings. yeh would like to come up, and Yeh no doubt you have plenty of room but i'l check the forcast first... That said, having the best stadium in the country, alledgedly, is not going to win you a league championship.
