E I Addio
with what Belle Vue and their fans have been through since the new stadium was announced, those pictures make me feel proud to be a fan of the mighty Belle Vue Aces. After being the whipping boys of the EL for at least the last 8 years, one can only admire what Dave Gordon& Co have achieved not just in pulling this off, but having the resolve to keep the team going through what must have been some very difficult times financially. Looking at the shape of the bends I would hazard a guess that it will provide some of the best racing in the country. Congratulations to the BV fans, ,who must be well pleased with the outcome.
bellevueace
David and Chris have done an excellent job in providing the club with a new home, as Mort was instrumental in the plans for laying the track it should provide some excellent racing as he based it on his vast knowledge of Hyde Road. But like any new track its going to take time to settle down and bed in, when it has done then we can judge the quality of racing.
magnificentseven
Can anyone tell me if there is car parking onsite at the new stadium?
Phil The Ace
Can anyone tell me if there is car parking onsite at the new stadium? Yes but it's very small and for only people who have purchased a permit. There is parking at the school next to the Stadium and the cinema opposite
martinmauger
Nonsense. By the time of the 1985 World final Odsal was long since finished. It had already held the Overseas Final and an FIM World Pairs semi-final 3 months earlier! I walked all round the stadium most the terracing, back straight & turn 2, was ok but the area around turn 1 just past thr main stand was like a building site very uneven, rough gound, temporary fencing, a lot of pushing & shoving and I saw a few of people fall. Mind there was 37,000 there, I believe, and the track was good with some decent racing in between rain showers. But the thread is about The New Belle Vue and the place looks more than decent... Trees
u Excellent photos. Now see it is more advanced than I originally imagined. As for jealousy, I cant believe anyone would be jealous. They, like me, should be very pleased for such a stadium in the EL. Wish Poole Council had the funds to do the same for Wimborne Road. So envious of your great looking stadium, yes. Cant wait to come up in a couple of weeks time to see it myself. And pick up the points. They will just have to put the council tax up for all their affluent inhabitants! That'll go a way to funding a new one! Or perhaps improve what you have, some 1st/2nd bend terracing would be nice!

The current stand was built in 1960 and is litterally not far off condemned. The back straight stand, whilst fine for dogs is next to useless for watching speedway and it was a sad day when the old zig zagged roofed stand came down, though it was a relic. There are plans for a new stadium but the guy who wants to do it wants to bring back Poole Town, which would mean a full sized football pitch in the middle which doesnt help speedway, plus built over 100 houses on the car park. Poole Stadium has some protection as it was left to the council on the understanding it would always be a sports venue. Just wish they could cough up but its on a long term lease to the greyhound people. Something like BV new stadium would be very nice but how much has this new stadium actually cost? Time will tell.

Time will tell. It did. But you can still park in there. It just won't have any parking attendants so you leave your car at your own risk

The guy as in Eddie Mitchell. Wouldn't trust him tbh. Didn't the council want to get rid of the stand cos the roof wasn't safe?? But greyhound people won't help pay for it? That's what I heard anyway.
Shale Searcher
Weather Forecast... From Saturday 12th March. The weather for Manchester will be mainly dry, and I mean dry! High pressure in control for the foreseeable future. The nights may be cold, with the chance of frost, but no significant precipitation between 12th March and 19th March. Daytime temps will fluctuate between around 8c and 14c depending on how much sun you get, which is still a tad hit and miss, it's a dirty high.... But it should be dry between 12th and 19th March..... Weather update: Monday 14th March to Monday 21st March 2016... Not a lot of change, Dry, potentially a tad more cloud cover which in turn suppresses temperatures, should still max out during day hours up to around 12c possibly 16c in any prolonged sunshine... Fog/mist could be a problem early doors. So no weather issues for Belle Vue..
New Science
Must admit I think it would be wise to get bikes out onto the track prior to opening night, the last thing anyone wants is the have a capacity crowd in the stadium, some of the best riders around in the pits, with all the media razzmatazz there to report on first night, and you end up with riders struggling with a rough track. Surely some kind of a rehearsal would be the way to go. Agree with this post surely one of the 'test events' should have involved an actual speedway meeting.Belle Vue are taking a risk not testing the track before a sell out opening night
OveFundinFan
Its a new track, tested beforehand or not, I would think the chances of getting top class RACING is iffy. Time will sort it and I do believe the track will produce quality racing.

By the time it had been completed 3 days ago, had you put some kind of testing on, it would have cut the thing up right off the bat. At first I thought it was silly but they've done the right thing. It will have had a good 8 days to bed in and will have been tyre packed like you wouldn't believe. The weather is really helping, finally. Notenoughnerve
Those are riders and officials only I believe. May be wrong though I'd read that too, but they looked two pretty substantial structures, capable of holding several hundred people. A little o.t.t for a handful of riders to view from.
