Belle Vue 2016

With a full maximum as well.

I have a good feeling about Craig this year. Stepping out of the PL has given him the motivation to prove himself. He finished last season like a train, all he needs is to carry that on.

I think is the year he will finally see his full potential.

Shale shmale, Hull's 1995 opener at Craven Park was raced on the track base (!) Not by choice, I should point out, the shale was delivered either too late to lay it or to lay and grade properly, time was getting on so the show went on. I should also point out the surface took half the 1st season to settle down and that previously ridden on base not show through.

 Typical Speedway story - you don't get stuff like this in the Premiership.

The back straight Grandstand looks a lot bigger in those pictures than it did in the arial views..

The scale of it is breathtaking when you see that, a couple of weeks ago someone was asking if the terraacing was going to have any kind of gradient - when you see it now it's huge.

Just a thought on what I saw today. There's been a lot of discussion about pricing & comments that it's quite expensive, especially in the grandstand.

I was concerned about the pricing structure when I first saw it published, & to a degree I'm still not sure BV have got it quite right (e.g in terms of the £8 for kids in the grandstand). But to be fair to the Promotion they are offering top quality viewing, & from a business point of view, that shouldn't be undersold.

Will be really interested to read the thoughts of both home & visiting fans in the weeks to come, know the Aces promotion will be very interested in constructive feedback too.

It looks awesome & well worth a trip up north to see a meeting from their☺

Just hope your stadium project (& Coventry's too) gets going soon. Be brilliant if the Swindon promotion could get some of the Wiltshire 'movers n shakers' up to the Aces v Robins match. To show them what a positive effect a new stadium, with top facilities, & most importantly a quality track can have.

Can't see the Swindon stadium being a patch on yours but will be glad if we end up getting one.

It might not be on the scale of the Aces stadium, but the basic principles still apply. A track with good racing lines, combined with comfortable facilities you can invite friends/family/business to, has to be a winner.

I've got friends coming to the new stadium this year who would never normally attend speedway. Two of them own local firms in north Manchester, & if they enjoy it they may well come back, & maybe bring their staff along too for a Xmas do or something like that.

I'm sure other joe-normal Aces fans like me are doing the same, telling their mates. No reason why that formula can't work in Swindon, or Cov, or Essex etc..

Enjoy my trips to Swindon (especially last Sept  ), hope the Robins are sorted soon.

Not opening can of worms but surely no one would begrudge the Aces management making a few quid considering what they have delivered. Maybe the prices are just for the opener, which I can't get to, it also struck me it's going to be a bit close timewise. I went to the 1985 Wold Final at Bradford and seem to recall fans being kept waiting outside as Odsal wasn't quite finished, mind it defo wasn't finished when they finally did let folk in ....

Nonsense. By the time of the 1985 World final Odsal was long since finished. It had already held the Overseas Final and an FIM World Pairs semi-final 3 months earlier!

Looking at those photos they have done a lot of work in a short space of time, but there still seems loads to do to finish the track. And what about all that unsightly pile of earth. Is that going to still be there when the stadium opens?

Looks like they are a month or two behind schedule because theres no way they should be cutting it this fine.

And I would say again that it is paramount that the track needs to be tested thoroughly before the meeting. Why take undue risks?

Why all the negativity, we have already moved the offices into their plush office in the main grandstand. The first certificate test was successfully completed last Thursday, and the final one today is the football match between old Manchester City players and cast members of TV soap stars. After that the certificate will be obtained and all systems go. The track will be fit for speedway, the racing lines will form when riders try different lines, this takes time but I'm sure that in a couple of months Belle Vue riders will know the best lines to take and other riders will learn. Like all tracks.

Photos don't tell the whole story. I've been going physically on a daily basis, keeping an eye on developments, for the last 3 weeks. The mound of earth your talking about is literally all that is left. It's a days work, that will be gone by tomorrow.

After that it's speedway related, nothing to do with the build. So the air fence will need installing, and there is a top surface of shale to be laid.

The track apart from that is down. They will tyre pack for the next week, and there is no rain forecast for about 10 days.

It's always Poole fans. It genuinely is. I've tried sitting on the fence in my mind with it, to be reasonable, but the reality is that it's essentially those from the south coast with all the negativity.

My apologies for calling it out, but I think it's jealousy. I really do.

You will probably be able to sit on the terraceing once the crowd finds it regular level. If it hold 4000 people standing then it holds 2000 people sitting. Add in a half full grandstand and some on the bends and it makes for an EL crowd of 3000 plus, far higher than the norm.

Best stadium, best track, the world famous Belle Vue Aces with nowhere cheaper. What's not to like.

The track shop should start selling branded seat pads for people to use.

Wrong again shovlar. Track is all laid. Fence is all in. Track is going to get tyre packed all week. Fresh shale dotted all over the track to put on also.

All the earth is being stored behind the back straight fence till may when it will all be collected an moved. This is to let the soil soften before it can be taken to where ever it is taken.

As I said previously it's just tidying up to do now.

The management have done a lot of forward thinking with the Stadium as you say running approx 2 months behind schedule.

They have erected temporary terracing on back straight for 1 season only which I must say looks great. And they have installed fancy porta cabins behind the terracing for toilets and food outlets till next winter when everything will be changed for permanent fixtures and fittings

I've said before and now the stadium is a reality I am even more convinced that what David Gordon and Chris Morton have done is by far the biggest and most important speedway related achievement in the UK in the sports modern history. Many thought it impossible but they have created a flagship national stadium which can be a blueprint for dragging the sport into the 21st century. It now needs other promoters with the same vision, skill and determination, Belle Vue have shown what can be done. It is not only a magnificent showcase stadium but also gives the opportunity to put clubs on a firm financial footing with the various income streams that it creates.

Belle Vue supporters have suffered many years of poor performance on track whilst the emphasis has been on getting this stadium built. I have also said before that it was a price well worth paying.

Given a choice between say a handful of league championships over recent years and a stadium which can ensure the future of the club and the improve the profile of the sport in general it is no contest. The long term security of the club wins hands down. There are no guarantees but now we literally have all of the building blocks in place to return Belle Vue to the very top.

I was down at the stadium at Christmas & like some of the more pessimistic posters on here, I couldn't see any way that it would be ready for March 19. The wet winter we've had up here won't have helped either.

However I'm happy to admit that I was wrong, huge credit to the promotion who've had plans in place for stuff most fans, including me, wouldn't have even thought of.

Hopefully the test event today will be a success & then a week of dry Mancunian weather to get the track into pristine condition for the likes of Woffy, Nicki P, Cookie et al to blast around next Saturday night.
