acef
I see this has become another Starman/Poole thread. Belle Vue need only keep their counsel like they have for 9 years, and it will pay off eventually. In fact it's already starting
Notenoughnerve
I wouldn't get too upset about Starman's post. Merely harmless banter I'd suggest. Not particularly funny, nor original it transpires, but when did we get so precious?
Shale Searcher
Belle Vue do seem to suffer more than most with rain-Offs..... Obviously due the rotten weather up in the Manchester area? Or was the track as well as being well worn, did it have major drainage issues..? If it was down mostly to the inclement Mancunian weather, do Belle Vue have a plan to protect the new track surface from race day rain? If I remember correctly, the Aces did suffer from rain-offs quite severely on race days, and a possibly higher ratio than most tracks when the weather cleared up for meeting start time.. Serious question. Edited February 23, 2016 by Shale Searcher
bellevueace
A state of the art drainage system and track covers are going to be used in the new stadium.
Gilly3272
I also believe the type of shale used will make a big difference the gra (i'm lead to believe) made us use a very fine dust so as to protect the greyhounds paws but it just turned to sludge when it was wet where as the shale used on alot of tracks will soak up more water before that happens . Shale Searcher
A state of the art drainage system and track covers are going to be used in the new stadium. One of the issues with "state of the art" drainage, is that as well as taking water away, it also leeches the clay out as well.. You'll need a plan to put that back on.... KIRKYLANE
I noticed that the Fim fixtures show an U21qualifier at Belle Vue on Sat 21. May. Another meeting to look forward to.
acef
In terms of drainage, remember the entire track is banked. Even the straights. The corners are at the maximum bank I think. The latest drainage system and covers also in place. All things combined, the only scenario that would force a rain off is it raining during the actual meeting. It should collect in gulley pots if you have them, in which case it can be mixed with the rainwater and sucked out and sprayed back on.. bellevueace
The rainwater that runs off the track is being collected in an underground storage tank and that is going to be used for watering, im sure that's what was explained at the open day,

You probably have gulley pots just inside the kerb as well, these silt up with clay that settles at the pots bottoms.. Clay will also get to the big central storage tank/s as well, both are excellent for collecting the clay residue, stirred up by blowing back and mixing it with the water before "Sucking" it all out and spraying back onto the track... As for covers yes, but it will take sometime to lay them, but at least you can roll them down onto the infield for the meeting then roll them up properly and put them away later. I hope you have the Volunteer capacity to lay them. Edited February 23, 2016 by Starman2006
OveFundinFan
Starman, you seem to have a lot of negatives in your mind. I sense there is some jealousy creeping in. If Belle Vue have the nouse to arange for track covers, I am sure they have the nouse to be able to organise them being put down and taken up. I'm expecting that Belle Vue will be such a good success as a racers track that there could well be a clamour from riders to sign on for the 2017 season.

I agree and definatly a bigger incentive to ride on a proper racers track than a pothole like Poole

acef
Tbf the Poole track has been poor for a while. It's become common knowledge after the misconception that it was one of the best in the country. Equally, the old BV track was just as bad. Both tracks had the blue line and several holes. That's not stirring the pot, it's just a common fact.
