Game On
So im getting the gist from this post the whole of bends 3-4 are going to be re-laid then ? Very wise, because if they don't i would fully expect the problem to be ongoing. And yes, our old track curator put in the present track at Poole in a week, save for help with fence poles and chicken wire.. That's why it's crap then. SteveLyric2
NOT sure that anyone has said they took 100 days to finish bends 3/4 after the contractors had stopped using that part of the track as an entry/exit point. Three months (100 days) before the scheduled opening the rest of the track wasn't laid. The theory is that the contractors bogged that last section and that combined with the weather and one or two other reasons it didn't settle as had the rest of the circuit. Now, presumably, they have completed the track to the same specifications as the rest and all, hopefully sooner rather than later, will be good. No doubt Sky will be anxious to see the junior match go ahead but without it my guess is they might switch the fixture to Wimborne Road. I hope not PR. Sky have already switched the May fixture from 25th to 23rd May. The meeting sponsor would not be happy!!! Me!! ;-) :-(
Alan_Jones
They are anticipating that the work will be finished on Friday and obviously only if everything goes to plan will the Colts match take place on Sunday. Coventry are saying it's off. Edited April 21, 2016 by Alan Jones

BWitcher
Belle Vue v Poole now postponed too. Taken from Belle Vue website:- "During the course of the remedial works being carried out by the stadium contractors to Turns Three and Four, further defects have been exposed which require further attention and this has extended the work program. Belle Vue Speedway have therefore confirmed that their National League fixture against Coventry, which they were hoping to stage on Sunday April 24th, together with the Elite League meeting Belle Vue v Poole scheduled for Wednesday 27th April will not take place." MUST be so frustrating especially as the rest of the track is fine. Would be nice to actually know what those defects are. Will try and find out. Will try and find out. Weren't we told that bends 3 and 4 were being completely dug up and started again from scratch? If that is the case, how can 'further defects' be exposed?

BWitcher
PRESUMABLY that's how the defects were found Not if you are starting again from scratch, there would be no defects left to be found. At least a sensible early decision has been taken. Just get it spot on and then it's all systems go. Still very much looking forward to visiting in the summer.

Aces51
This is totally frustrating and must be a financial nightmare for the promoters with no income coming in. Hopefully, the full extent of the problems is now apparent and can soon be solved. At least what it does make clear is that none of what has happened has been the fault of Belle Vue. There is no way they could have been aware of the problems with the sub base and now, whatever these further defects are that have been revealed. It just proves the wisdom of waiting to find out the facts before making the sort of outrageous comments and allegations made by some after the opening meeting and the subsequent postponements
TesarRacing
I reckon they have found some of the those dodgy bricks that Matt Ford bought!!
Woz01
I'm assuming the contractors will get a financial penalty after this is sorted?
Trevor
It would be quite negligent of the council who issued the contract, for it not to include penalty clauses in a situation like this.
ouch
I think their must be. Don't forget even on opening night the stadium wasn't ready as the back straight terracing is temporary, there were porta loos instead of finished loos and the South stand car park was full of construction equipment. Trouble is it will take time to sort the penalty clauses and it will have to come via the council. Gutted for the promotion.
Countershaftcounter
With such a late start to the home season you have to wonder about fixture congestion later on . Will riders be available ? Also will the fans be able to afford so many meetings in such a small time period? I think there'll have to be some kind of price incentive from the club to encourage sufficient numbers for home matches
