stevebrum
FURIOUS Belle Vue Chief Executive Officer David Gordon hit back at the criticism which followed the disastrous abandonment of Saturdays inaugural meeting at the new National Stadium, saying: This was NOT our fault. The work on the track will be reviewed by the stadium project team hourly and we will take a decision at 9am on Wednesday about whether or not we can run Fridays home meeting against Wolverhampton. If the remedial work is successful completed and tested then we will race. He concluded: Belle Vue Speedway are not to blame for Saturdays disaster. Other parties need to accept their responsibility and deal with the consequences. It's not our fault, it's not the BSPA's fault. I mean really???? Just whose fault do they assume it is? its clear no lessons have been learned by those in charge of our sport as is usual it's always someone else's fault. Do they seriously believe anyone is buying the options of running Friday? They had the track tested last week yet that proved nothing. Even if they offered assurances, free entry, free parking, a free easter egg and a £20 gift voucher I still wouldn't waste my time going on Friday. I guess promoters really do think supporters will buy any guff announcement.
Bagpuss
All we are missing is a statement from the contractors saying it isn't their fault!
LisaColette
Just when you think the situation can't get any worse the Belle Vue promotion deny any fault at all. Absolutely unbelievable. Little wonder the BSPA is hanging them out to dry! It is unbelievable!! It's just plain ridiculous.
Grand Central
All we are missing is a statement from the contractors saying it isn't their fault! It won't be long. Like buses You wait ages for one stomach-churning snivelling denial of responsibility, and two come along; only to be followed by a third soon after. Meanwhile, on the issue of refunds... err ... that will take one hell of a long time to appear. LisaColette
BV really know how to make a mess of things don't they? Just say you messed up, apologise, sort out refunds, sort the track out and move on!!
Steve Shovlar
The statement put out by BV could be a legal cover for them. Imagine 50 people going to small claims demanding BV pay for their hotel, fuel etc as they knew of the problem but still allowed people to waste their money fully in the knowledge that these people were wasting their money. Do the BV two actually have any actual financial input in the club? The stadium isnt theirs, so basically they just have the lisence. By bringing the sport into disrepute can the bspa remove the licence and stick a promoter in there who could do a good job.

That is the point I made on Sat SS, if the track not being good was known beforehand who knows what the courts would award costs for. mdmc82
Instead of playing the blame game, why doesn't whoever has the fans money (belle Vue I imagine) let them know how they can get a refund! Disgusting that there is still no statement on that

David Gordon and Chris Morton have spent seven years of their lives bringing this to fruition. It's a hic-up, a big one admittedly, but if you manage to go there Steve you will marvel at what they have achieved and appreciate what a wonderful facility British speedway has at it's disposal. Do you honestly expect them to walk away and allow another promoter (Matt Ford?) to reap the benefit.
Tsunami
What is the point in The BSPA ( or Buster Chapman) saying its not our fault etc etc. They are the controlling Body so they should be controlling. Or would that be too simple for them ? If I had spent the money that some appear to have spent on this total farce then Speedway would not get another cent out of me. The BSPA should be standing up taking their share of the blame and be big and bold enough to say to the this is what we are proposing to do by way of compensation for all the people who have been ripped off by. Yet again the Speedway fan bends over takes another one up the harris ( no pun intended on Bomber). Buster's brand new World of Speedway has got off to one heck of a start. WHY. It's BV's track, and their opening night, and had the relevant licence covering actual dimensions. If a promotion goes ahead with a meeting despite advice to the contrary, it's down to them to get it right. They didn't. Disgusting that there is still no statement on that THERE will be a statement but, as in Warsaw, there are a number of legal hoops to jump through. I honestly don't believe there is any intention not to provide refunds although, of course, this doesn't fully compensate people for travel costs, etc.
