Belle Vue 2016

Recommended Posts

Certainly having second thoughts about coming up on Good Friday now.

If this is what Belle Vue have to offer at this so-called fantastic new stadium then they may as well have stayed at the Dog track.

You may not be the only one.

Gotta say a must agree. Was hugely looking forward to good Friday but now I'm not making the effort going if there us no respect for travelling fans.

Huge own goal for the Aces promotion.

That statement is very clear, the gates should never have opened tonight and Belle Vue Speedway fooked up

Winter weather...what sort of winter were they hoping for ?

Fans from other clubs might also give it a miss for many weeks.

Gutted about tonight, the stadium is awesome and the sound of bikes due to the stadium design was awesome. The onky issue is the lack of time the track has had to settle, it wasnt down to anything but lack of time. So the big error was quite clearly not calling this off yesterday. Its a massive lack of judgement to let this happen, a call of yesterday would not of been the disaster today was.

The big question now is how long does the track need, is good Friday still to early, the promotion can come back from this but cant afford Friday to be the same. If friday is in doubt call it off now and get it ready from the sky match on the 30th.

Blaming the riders is ridiculous. As Shovlar said should have practice on it. They had a load of Brits testing Cardiff before so why not do that?

Ya don't remember Kenny Carter winning the British Final then at Coventry with a broken leg on a rain sodden track that nobody wanted to ride??

Or PC coming 2nd in a World Final in the driving rain after smashing his leg up & being on crutches??

Riders these days are nowhere near as skilful as in the past as they simply can't ride a track that has material on it or isn't anything but concrete slick.

I was there 2nite & I'm telling ya, I've seen about half a dozen Cardiff GP's where the track was worse than 2day.

Most of the riders there 2nite have shown utter contempt for the British Elite League by not riding here so they don't give a toss about what damage 2nite has done to the Sport in general.

GP's & GP riders have ruined this sport & they will ultimately be the death of it in the UK.

I'll be there on May 2nd. Won't be cutting my nose off to spite my face, and I suspect if the track is good for Belle Vue meetings between now and then that the place will be packed out for the SWC.

One or two people seem to be using tonight as an 'I told you so' after thinking that the place wouldn't be built under the stewardship of Morton & Gordon. The reality is that once the track is ironed out we have a stunning stadium and circuit in the UK, people really should go and see it for themselves once the dust of this evening has settled. That said tonight was an awful embarrassment for British Speedway.

Think a fair few will wait til track gets good reviews before attempting to go back.

Ha ha, sorry then!!!

Just trying to point out that riders these days seem less and less inclined to ride a track unless it's 100% perfect.

Never used to be like that in the old days!!!! Just another thing that's helping to kill the sport sadly

Are you really comparing World Championship meetings with what was, at the end of the day to the riders, a challenge meeting that meant nothing.

I bet PC wouldn't have raced a random open meeting if the track was the same. Carter maybe as the guy was sandwiches short of a picnic!

No worries! I can't really compare todays GP's with that as didn't see it but with all the accidents over the last few years don't blame them for being reluctant. If they don't think the track is safe then no way should they ride it.

BV should have delayed it when they knew there was a problem with it, sounds to me like they buried their heads in the sand and prayed it would hold up!

I Don't remember Collins and Carter turning for challenge matches on crap tracks with broken limbs etc ...I do remember Tai Woffiden turning up to gp's only being 30 % fit to gain points a couple of years ago thou .

As for about them not riding the El that tells you more about the league that it does riders ..and who could blame them when things like tonight happen ...

That is the 7th home meeting by which time, subject to the weather between now and then, the track should have had plenty of testing and meeting reports will show if it has been sorted out or not. If the weather is ok the track should have been sorted out by May 2nd if not before.

All totally pointless if they can't get the track right. Otherwise staying at the old stadium would have been the better option.

Nothing to do with track prep. Simply yhe delay in stadium build meant that bends 3 and 4 not had enough time to settle. The track will be fine once bedded in. The error was simply not calling this off yesterday when practice showed it wasnt ready.

remember being at brandon for the british final when kenny won on a wet track, me my dad and a fairly well known sky presenter went together in my dads old morris minor traveler...

fans were left waiting about an hour after the rain stopped for the riders to decide what to do, some didnt want to ride others did,

in the end there was some cracking races when the track had dried a little
