Bradford Ace
Utter GP ponces. If it ain't a slick concrete billiard table they ain't interested - makes me sick. Cardiff track is worse than that every year - they can all do one for me now & never come back here - they have just killed the sport in the UK in one evening 😡
Col
Sitting there in the cold without any updates. Think you will find most people were standing.

Bagpuss
I think there is right and wrong on both sides but the bottom line is that once again British Speedway has treated its customers appallingly. Absolutely no consideration for the crowd this evening. And the worst thing is its absolutely no surprise, its a familiar feeling. As for moving the SWC, its three months away FFS. Get a grip. Despite tonight's shambles the track shape and stadium are stunning.
Col
The riders will not practice and the first time they take to the track is coming around for heat one. They all did about 3 laps practice before the meeting was about to start, there was never a possibility of heat 1.

Cardiff track is worse than that every year - they can all do one for me now & never come back here - they have just killed the sport in the UK in one evening I think we can lay some of the blame on your promoters though? They should have done practise sessions to make sure the track was good and if they knew there was a problem notified the paying public earlier. I think the GP riders would rather not go home with broken limbs because they have to race on an un tested and as they said shoddy track.
SteveLyric2
Not going to point a finger at anyone - just feel sad and sorry for all concerned - and hope the track can 'bed in' within the next 10 days.

As Shovlar said should have practice on it. They had a load of Brits testing Cardiff before so why not do that?

SteveLyric2
I would imagine there is a big risk that ALL meetings will be off the Sky schedule.
remembertheracers
A week ago on here I said that it was utter madness to run the meeting without riders practising on it first, and was told I am just jealous of the new Belle Vue setup. I said that a good practice session was needed because the last thing the sport needs is holes in feet and more nails in coffins. No, was the reply, the riders will not practice and the first time they take to the track is coming around for heat one. I said it was madness, but only a few on here agreed with me. You cannot risk such a shoddy plan when a six thousand crowd are turning up from around the country, have paid for hotels, time off work, fuel in cars, etc etc etc, plus paid money for their tickets. And hey presto, What has happened? The very worst possible scenario. Six thousand do turn up, then sit or stand there freezing and it turns out that the track is exactly as I thought it could be. Unrideable, or unraceable as Harris said over the mic. The BBC, ITV, Sky, radio and newspapers were all there wasting their time. As for the ticket paying public, well its even worse because there was the competely lost opportunity to get a load of new fans to the sport. I take absolutely no joy in writing this. It is a complete disaster. And it could have been completely avoidable. A call of yesteday would have been bad but not ruinous. Yes people would have been angry having booked hotels but they could have understood. But to get everyone in the stadium and then have it called off could not be any worse. Belle Vue in one fell swoop have lost all the goodwill they had generated over the last year. How they are going to recover from this is difficult to tell. At times I really despair for my sport. I am afraid you are totally correct Steve, the sport has been on self destruct for years. I still love it, but at times it embarrasses me. I tried to introduce a newcomer at Swindon in 2014. Despite being in the Legends Lounge he was bored to tears, could not fathom the double point joker and kept asking why the delay before the next race. I no longer intend to take anyone new as he was right.
george.m
Every close season on BSF, we have fans putting forward ideas for improving the sport's future in post after post. All these well intentioned ideas put forward because the paying punters really care. But unfortunately of the people who really can make a difference - the owners/promoters - some of them are just plain amateur and just not up to the job. Speedway fans care passionately about their sport, they are your paying customers. Belle Vue tonight is quite simply a major schoolboy error. There can, and should be, no excuses. You had your chance tonight Belle Vue and totally screwed it. Totally! Edited March 19, 2016 by george.m
Steve0
How can anyone blame the riders? The promotion are at fault for trying to run a speedway meeting on a track that had never been ridden before - stupid or what? The past few weeks the BV fans were gushing about their promotion and they put up with 10 years of a rubbish team because they were investing in the new stadium. Well I hope it hits the promotion where it hurts - in their pockets! Not really a fitting tribute to Peter Craven! A ORLOV
I notice the sky meeting with Poole is off the sky sport schedule. http://www.skysports.com/watch/speedway-on-sky I do not know why they bother with that page as it is nearly always not up to date. In fact there are two previously mentioned planned televised meetings not being shown on it.

van wolfswinkel
What a joke speedway can be...6000 people turn up for a Grand Opening that is called off because the track is unfit to ride, and 2500 turned-up for a farewell meeting at Swindon that wasn't. Farcical for a sport that is losing fans on a monthly basis. The fans are being treated like mugs, and will just vote with their feet and spend their hard-earned money watching some other form of entertainment. There are better things to do than stand around in the bloody freezing cold. Edited March 19, 2016 by Downsman
magnificentseven
What a Farce. New Stadium - Old Belle Vue shabby promotion. Just another nail in the coffin of British Speedway. How much longer do promotors expect fans to put up with their ineptness. The Belle Vue promotion really don't deserve anyone to turn up for any future meetings. R87
Certainly having second thoughts about coming up on Good Friday now. If this is what Belle Vue have to offer at this so-called fantastic new stadium then they may as well have stayed at the Dog track. Daniel Smith
http://www.bellevueaces.co/newsitem.aspx?id=1642 That statement is very clear, the gates should never have opened tonight and Belle Vue Speedway fooked up
