Notenoughnerve
I seriously blame the riders. Sell put crowd and we weren't that bothered what the racing was like. Follow each other round, we wouldn't have minded.. But a good news story has been turned into a bad news one.
Happy Hunter
An extract from a post on the Leicester 2016 page by the Lions track curator 12 days ago:- "But went by Manchester's new track they have so much to do in 12 days and the weather is giving them little chance. We had snow here in Manchester all day now its raining. Had no shale on two turns Just mud everywhere."

Follow each other round, we wouldn't have minded.. But a good news story has been turned into a bad news one. Riders safety should come first. Nobody wants to see anybody injured. Harris says the track was rideable but not raceable but he will give most things a try. Why should fans pay out to watch riders just try and make it round 4 laps. I feel sorry for the fans who made the trip. Sitting there in the cold without any updates. Shambles and sad to see

The only disgrace is Belle Vue Speedway for allowing 6000 fans to travel to the opening night knowing the tracks dogrubbishe and could possibly not be safe enough to race. The buck does not fall at the feet of the riders

screm
You dont get a second chance to make first impressions, I hope I am wrong, but I suspect there will be long term repercussions will be over this.
Popular Post stewmac
There's no doubt that from tweets and stories going around, the Belle Vue promotion knew days ago this meeting was in doubt. With that knowledge, they are the ones to blame. No one else. They should have shown some mettle and maturity and cancelled the meeting ahead of today, to stop people travelling from all over the UK and waiting for hours on end to see nothing. The fact that they refused to do that shows they callously and cynically wanted all the money in, and didn't give a damn about the fans. The BSPA should give them the strongest reprimand possible and fine them very heavily. They should also insist that things are right from now on, or else their right to promote should be questioned and possibly removed from them. British Speedway has waited months for this miracle to come together. To try to put some good news and good feeling back into the sport in this country. Instead, it has been served up a National DISASTER. Belle Vue Promoters - HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME.

HBKPCNBob
To be fair to the Belle Vue promotion, they are use to a rutty track at the old stadium, maybe that's what they thought speedway tracks are all like. :-P Here's looking forward to what a shambles the World Cup will be. Major mistake offering it to a track that hadn't been built at the point of being announced. Let's hope we see back at Kings Lynn.
screm
Really hope they make a better job of the World Cup As someone who will be travelling from Berwick for the Friday & Saturday nights meetings, and having forked out hard earned pennies for hotel and tickets, I truly hope they do, though to be fare if Belle Vue are still having these kind of problems come SWC night, we might as well give up.

Midland Red
Posted Today, 08:41 PM A meeting of this size should not have been scheduled until the track had been down for at least one month, and had been ridden on regularly to ensure it's suitability for racing (not just riding) - together with as much of the surrounding facilities completed as possible BSPA and Belle Vue have cost 6,000 fans a mountain of time, effort and money, and done the sport probably the biggest disservice in this country since Olsen created his circus Can the association and its members bugger off and let someone else take over, someone with organisational skills, foresight and common sense? While we're at it, how can a meeting run with one ambulance? Common sense says that, if that vehicle is needed to be used, the lack of a second will mean the meeting cannot continue (ref Somerset last night). Doh! (Also posted on meeting thread!)

ouch
Some modern day "star" riders are pussies. If you don't want to ride speedway don't be a speedway rider, if you do get on with it and as one ex rider told me put on a show. I hope it is not rerun with that shower, I will be getting a refund as I cannot bring myself to pay to watch these soft a*** "riders" I will however gladly turn up if the Craven meeting is run as the old junior championship. I feel so so sorry for The Aces management having put faith in these so called stars, they deserved better than that.

Popular Post Steve Shovlar
A week ago on here I said that it was utter madness to run the meeting without riders practising on it first, and was told I am just jealous of the new Belle Vue setup. I said that a good practice session was needed because the last thing the sport needs is holes in feet and more nails in coffins. No, was the reply, the riders will not practice and the first time they take to the track is coming around for heat one. I said it was madness, but only a few on here agreed with me. You cannot risk such a shoddy plan when a six thousand crowd are turning up from around the country, have paid for hotels, time off work, fuel in cars, etc etc etc, plus paid money for their tickets. And hey presto, What has happened? The very worst possible scenario. Six thousand do turn up, then sit or stand there freezing and it turns out that the track is exactly as I thought it could be. Unrideable, or unraceable as Harris said over the mic. The BBC, ITV, Sky, radio and newspapers were all there wasting their time. As for the ticket paying public, well its even worse because there was the competely lost opportunity to get a load of new fans to the sport. I take absolutely no joy in writing this. It is a complete disaster. And it could have been completely avoidable. A call of yesteday would have been bad but not ruinous. Yes people would have been angry having booked hotels but they could have understood. But to get everyone in the stadium and then have it called off could not be any worse. Belle Vue in one fell swoop have lost all the goodwill they had generated over the last year. How they are going to recover from this is difficult to tell. At times I really despair for my sport.
