Edinburgh 2016

i know you had to lose points thats the nature of the sport and a successful side.

My point is that you are replacing Cook/Sedgman (20 points a meeting i would guess) with Fisher/6 pointer , which in my view you will do well to get 15 points a meeting out of

That must mean you are a lot weaker and all i was asking is are you worried about your chances

I'm not worried no, I believe there is plenty of improvement in Riss and Clegg in particular, and at the end of the day if we don't win anything so be it, it's not the be all and end all for me to be honest. Edited by spt82

Barker is a 100% trier who on occassions lets his mouth do the talking wouldnt call him dirty.

Fisher is the same as Barker as in tries hard but is just reckless (ask some of his team mates)

Masters is simply a big girls blouse as proved by punching a rider who was lying on the track and his antics at the gp when he just made himself look stupid

Yes. Except you could fit it inside Lakeside

Quit stirring.

So is it a lakeside style track? Looking at Google earth the track used to be longer as well.

its set up like a wolves nice and grippy but with slightly smaller straights. It's a track that you need attack to ride well if you don't well your struggle.

If you go in the Edinburgh website there are plenty of races on it for you to watch to get a rough idea what it's like.

Before the speedway moved into the stadium it had been used for stock car racing.

The stock car track was longer but the speedway track has always been the same size as it is now.

Not stirring at all. Genuine opinion, but of course it'll always differ from those who put a "all is perfect in the Embra garden" spin on things.

Having not visited Edinburgh, what is it about the track that gives them a good home advantage that often gets mentioned about Edinburgh?

It has a good racing surface but for viewing spectators it's absolutely abysmal

Would also add that came from an Edinburgh supporter before I actually went there and witnessed it for myself.

The fact that 90% of PL riders are beaten before they start as the dale is different to most tracks is probably more the point George. It's seen good matches & bad matches. It's not the ideal racing strip due to shape constraints but the home guys soon adapt & with Doc's prep you can pass if your good enough [rain notwithstanding which has reduced some meetings to farce]. Monarchs have been usually easily beaten when they had the EL/PL playoffs so the advantage isn't that great if your a decent rider.

Would agree with that , though it seems the type of track that you really need to ride regularly to be adept at it . Riders who become home specialists while riding for the Monarchs become less effective when they move clubs and return with their new side .

More to with engine set up it's pretty unique. If you ride it once or twice your not going to pay for it setup if you the average PL guy. A lot of the monarchs have had a home engine in the garage.

Thanks people. So just watched a video. So next question is why is it bad for spectator viewing? No raised grand stands? Or poor lighting?

You can only watch on 2 sides and neither is particularly raised bar the turn 3/4 stand. Some positions low down all you see is the helmets or just the roostertails as the riders go past.
