Mrs cambelt your entitled to voice your misguided opinions but what do you know about the team spirit and running of Rye House ,,Most fans thought the premier league match was entertaining..Your team was not riding i doubt you were that interested.//.The Raiders have a different agenda to Eastbourne...And no premier teams are going to put a National league match on first when its a double header !...

But if you was sensible about it look at it this way. Run the NL meeting first as the track would not have got pulled to bits by the NL riders as much. Then the Recar team would have more time to get to Rye House and people could do what they needed to do and run the meeting later for the PL, run the NL meeting at 2pm and the second meeting at 7pm under lights as i am sure it looks better, Grab the money from the Nl meeting as thats done and dusted then empty the staduim for the PL match and the local people would still come for the night meeting when the track would have been much better.

Branford would have some more confidence for the PL match with Morley ready to hit Recar or any other team if needed, sometimes you have to look at it another way to make it work. This is my opinion its not misguided because its all fact and it can work just depends if people are willing to make it change. Open the eyes of the ones that cant see the full distance. Speedway needs to drag in as many people as it can. something needs to change before it all goes wrong.

Just another way of looking at it. The other way about it as well that Rye house would have lost the first meeting but would have won the PL meeting and everyone at the end of the night would be talking about winning and not how bad the team was.

Always plan to finish on a High, and i think i know that of Eastbourne dont finish on a high they make sure that something special always happens so you talk about the postive not the negative, Eastbournes only agenda is to keep speedway alive.

Afraid you dont know what your talking about..Easiest thing in the world to be positive when your winning,, does not work so easy when your not...The only thing i can agree on is the management at Eastbourne are doing an excellent job down there

Went to the meeting at Rye House and it was nice to see the changes they are putting in to the stadium but i have to say the racing was poor for both meetings but there was no atmosphere and it was I have to say as a promotion pretty shameful event.

I also think the Pl match we not much better, the racing was very much follow my leader and not exciting at all, Ed Kennett was a master in his first race.

Jake Knight looked as if he would have got a few more points if it was not so slick and a blue line on the inside, Eastbourne was on the first part of the double header would have been better for both sides.

Perks has started to find a bit of his old form at last so it will be nice to see him amongst the points and have to say Charlie Powell has turned the corner and a very impressive ride leading his last ride until he came to grief mainly because of the track conditions.

Eastbourne’s looking to be a good side again loved the celebrations at Eastbourne on Saturday i would say thats the difference between Eastbourne and Rye is the team bonding and how well they all get on with each other and its nice to see that back in the camp again. were as its not like that at Rye House, i did catch Connor Dugard talking to Leek and pointing a few problems out during the meeting while watching a race they were standing in the grandstand and he was trying to help him with some advice, just shows things are bad when your helping the home team get around there own track.

M'am having witnessed the Eastbourne Cradley match I would say the track was way too grippy for some riders to turn their bikes - and I'm referring to the inexperienced and not Ellis of course.

I thought the Eastbourne riders rode much better at Rye and again a slick track might have had something to do with that.

There is comment on the official match report that Locke had been given advice and direction on his riding and nothing to do with

a lack of team spirit!

We all know NL like a pretty much bald track to ride except the talented few. So why strip a track when it can be done with bikes in a meeting before hand?

The problem is that the riders in the Nl are not good enough to ride the track when its as you say bald? a slick track is a track that has no dirt on it, the blue or black "BLUE GROVE" which appears at Rye hourse and Mildenhall is due to the rubber off the rear tyres scrubbing off the tyre and being placed on the track this makes it harder to turn because rubber on rubber gives you more grip and the riders go straight ahead then onto the dirt thats on the outside and then turn the bike around and crash.

Then you have somone water the blue groove means the water sits on the rubber a bit like a wet pair of trainers on a tiled floor. This then makes it harder for the NL riders.

So as i said give the NL riders the better track to start off with, then the track wont be wrecked as much by the 15 heats by the NL riders would be the same as the doing 6-8 heats on the PL team.

Then let the the PL team with the better riders race the track.

The NL riders are more than good enough to ride slick / bald tracks, blue groove or not. As you say there is often one at Rye, Mildenhall & Kent for that matter quite early on but the riders don't struggle. 2nd halves take place regularly at Mildenhall on a track as slick as Fonz's hair and nobody complains about it.

Obviously watering a blue groove is stupid but the PL will always get the tracks with grip & dirt on and the NL will get what is left when it comes to double headers and that will never change.

To be fair ( and i have been critical of the new Promotion at Rye) i thought they did a brilliant bit of work on sunday to get the track back to some sort of racing quality than the bare concrete we have had at Rye for the second part of a double header for many years. so much So bad was it that i sometimes wondered what is the point for a League that should be all about helping the development of youngsters running in substandard conditions. That said i suppose some track time is better than none. But clearly the spectacle is reduced when the track iS poor whether it is being raced on by EL or NL riders.

Have to say even I know that NL prefer bald tracks as its easier to turn and control a bike than a heavy dirt filled track

I am sorry but were you at the Mildenhall and IOW home meetings? There was no such thing as racing when the track had grip on it only Ellis ran it and even he was fighting. I have to agree you have it all the wrong way around. I don't expect you were at the fans forum when we started in the NL but Martin Dugard the master himself said a slick track is better for NL racing otherwise the riders will come off the bends with bags of speed and bin it at somepoint. I think you may remember last week the top dogs had a deep and bumpy/ rutty track and look what happened to them! Edited by Al3x200

Some laughable comments on Eastbourne Facebook. In response to the appeal for fundraising to get Gary cottham a new bike someone wrote " maybe it first should put their hands in their pocket"! Hmm good job you don't negotiate sponsorship we would be dead and buried by now.

Mrs Cambelt, agree with you. Also, what a poor attendance at Rye House, take the Eagles followers away and you would have been left with one man and his dog. Poor track, poor support, but the improvements at Dry House are looking good, but Jesus, get some dirt on that track, must be like racing on a mirror.

Get Gary Cottham a new bike ? Then give it to Georgie Wood, it might as well go to someone who can ride !!

If you were so good at track preparation, can't you get it back to dirt track racing as it was 60 years ago then .

Bit unfair on Gary there Gasbloke. As he can ride a bike and has had several good seasons in the past. and please if you believe you can do better please take the place of one of the reserves

Totally wrong I'm afraid the lay down bikes of today produce far too much power for inexperienced riders to safely control.

A deep and grippy track is DANGEROUS therefore a slick track is much safer for NL riders.

Give it a rest will ya. Three days after an emphatic away win and all you've done is mention how bad the Rye track and support are. No mention of your teams performance at all. You've avoided my question on another thread, so I'll have another try. If the Eastbourne support is so terrific, why did you drop TWO leagues in 2015? Edited by Shads

Coz they were doing 75 grand a year in cold blood, shadders, i think that was the figure they said

How on earth did they get in that situation? That's shocking. No wonder they dropped down to the training league.
