Eastbourne 2016

For me whatever the comments were it takes a big man to apologise for voicing your opinions so i applaud you for that.

In my mind i would much rather have a sponsor on board who is passionate about the sport and the goings on within it than one who solely benefits from the advertising. Keep at it Mr Easter better to have a voice and let people choose if they want to listen than have people wanting to listen and there being no voice.

well i have to say how stupid it was to put it on the web in the first place, a man or no would have not apologised if he thought he was right but i can say he had made himself look a bit silly with his foolsih coments, If i was a promoter of a speedway team and a league sponsor was jumping up and down about how good another team was and his team lost i would wonder what other strings he is trying to pull behind the curtains?

which is why he needs to explain how he is going to "ensure this doesn't happen again"

That's because up until midday on the day it was announced talks were still going on between 2 teams.

But as you appear to know more than me I'll now to your superior knowledge.

What was the other team again ?

hahahahaha keep it coming please, next you'll be telling me ellis doesnt earn much at eastbourne.

well maybe he would like to expand on those comments too?.

Last year the League was sponsored by the Coventry gearbox company "City gearbox" but i have a feeling it was along the lines of £500 per track which personally i think was not enough but i cant be sure on that, so lets say it was £5000 for 100 speedway meetings or 70 riders to have your logo on the suit means they have paid each rider £71 or £1 per race for the year. Not a bad deal really, Our Building company could afford that, wonder what James has put up for this Season would love to know, For the whole of the league of NL but as he said has no rule book and the fact that he does not like good riders in it for some reason i would pop a guess at £2500 or £250 per club or £36 a rider or 10 pints of beer. a Joke really and James Easter really has done himself no good at all today.

Wont be going with him on Tour now.

I be happy to pay extra money to go to Eastbourne to watch Adam, Class act and comes with no probelms, the worry has gone away for heat 13 and 15 for me now :t:

The only difference between Mr Easters comments and the selection upon this forum who have debated if Adam Ellis should ride in the NL or not (apart from putting his name to his comments) is that he holds a position of responsibility within the league.

If he wants Mildenhall to succeed then so be it and if they do it will be within the rules stated at the beginning of the season (the same rules that make Ellis eligible to ride in the NL).

There may be rule changes next season "if" enough promoters back it but if not we will continue as we are.

And as for how much the sponsorship was/is i think thats irrelevant, there wasn't a sponsor at the beginning of the year so even if it was £50 a team its better than nothing.

Happy to pay extra to see Adam at Eastbourne Maybe thats the point Eastbourne have started to climb the ladder again with Adam. Other memebers are starting to worry, what a wonderful world we live in.

I think the more you knock Eastbourne the stronger the force behind the team behind the curtain is working hard to push away anything that stands before them, last time i was talking to someone who works as a helper as Eastbourne said there is something special about to happen in 3 weeks time but would not tell me anymore on that, could it be Spiller, or could it be someone we have over looked.

worried but also very interested in whats the plans for them.

You'd think the minimum to sponsor a league would be £10k.

For example I picked up a sponsorship brochure from Eastbourne and their full page spread in the programme is £500.

So 12 teams X £500 full page advert that's £6000.

Unlike city gearbox I see they are not on the race jackets or suits. But it is referred to as the TPNL so surely that's got to be worth at least another £200 a club at least? That's only £10 a meeting if the club has 20 meetings which unlike Eastbourne most clubs will do with the NT so that brings the total - £2400 so £8400. Then the extra £1600 to be split between the winners of say the league £500, KO Cup £400, NT £300 then £200 to go to the track that wins track of the year award.

10k split between 12 teams £833.33recurring / 7 riders = £120 each - 3 new tyres / 12 litres of quality oil, 25 litres of methanol, clutch plates, half way to an engine service - just a thought I think anything below that would be a bit of a mockery but hey that's my oppinion if I had the money I'd like to build a sports venue in the south like what they have done with the NSS (except I'd hope mine would be rideable I'd also name it after the late Lee R.

Don't see what all the fuss is with Ellis. Unless he misses the gate all you're gonna see is him half a lap ahead of the others after 4 laps.

I have a relative who races in the NL this year and he is itching to line up against Adam to see if he can beat him. Another scalp he wants to claim. It helps him realise the level he needs to progress, & improve. Desire to be better. Well played Eastbourne on signing him.

Good way of thinking, but have to say very open minded are you sure your a speedway fan lol, if you want to be good you have to beat the best and ride with the best, thats why years ago they all came to England to race, now thats has changed and they all go to Poland to race so we have to use the best of the best of British (Adam Ellis) :drink:

Multumesc your post are very good and full of facts but they only thing you have done at the moment is to pull the post apart of everyone on here, maybe you would like to come up with a sugestion and let us comment on that rather then pulling other members apart.

Thank you Mrs C. I am simply posing the opposite view to, hopefully, make those with blue & yellow eagle shaped sun glasses on, realise that the future well being of the sport does not revolve around the team and results that Eastbourne produce and that they, maybe, should remember from time to time, where they were a couple of years ago, what might have been and how the National DEVELOPMENT League has provided Eastbourne with a 'safety net' and provided the club and its supporters with an opportunity to carry on the sport in Sussex, a place where I have long enjoyed visiting and having banter with the locals - some of whom used to become quite vociferous.

I can assure you that I have nothing against Adam Ellis, in fact I love the guy to bits and wish him every success in his career in not just domestic speedway but at international level too - I hope he goes far in this year's U21's and continues his early season form with Poole - I just cannot, personally, understand why he has taken the decision to drop back down into the NDL at this time. I appreciate that I may have not worded some of my posts as well as I might, and I admit that some of the one (eagle) eyed, and frankly naive, comments from Al3x200 and others, disappoint me, so I will apologise for not responding as well as I may have done on some of my posts. Genuinely - Enjoy Your Speedway.

In what context are you looking for me to make a suggestion, Mrs C? I will if I can if, you think it will help the debate.

Interesting reply but maybe you can see that we are all trying to be constructive and it only takes 1 person to make life hard work when its not ment to be that hard. but its good to Know that we are all talking about Eastbourne with the amount of number of people that read this forum.

Roll on Speedway, where is the next meeting and what is the bottom end of the team going to be?

Next up for Eastie is the looooooong trip top Buxton where you will find your old friend Ben Hopwood & chums.

Lewis Austen is your stand in reserve for this one.

On the Buxton website Jason Pipe is scared of your top 4 but is planning to take advantage of your "weak" tail and thinks he can take something from the match? Personally i think it will be comfy enough for the Eagles to take the away points but fear it could be a long drawn out meeting.....

Surely the BSPA will be charging James Easter with bringing the sport into disrepute?

£1,000 bill coming Mr Easter's way?

That's a big bill - a bit like a toucan. Then again, looking at the cost of his TP tours, £1,000 is just a flesh wound to Mr Easter.

Look out Adam, Big Bad Ben will be after you - well, probably by about half a lap, but definitely after you.

(S4K, you seem to have your finger on the Eagles pulse better than some of the Eagles fans do themselves sometimes. Good knowledge, buddy. I always enjoy reading your posts. (I'm aiming to visit Central Park for one of the Mildenhall matches next month and it would be great to say hello and maybe buy you half a shandy - as "Sidney the Robin" would say.))

Spot on S4K. Life is too short, a word my missus uses a lot about me for some reason.... If all posters had your attitude, the whole Forum would be a much more pleasant place at times.

Half a shandy it will be then, if you are up for a chat at Central Park. Just surprised you have a job, you loafer .... .
