Kent 2016

Couzins was the best three pointer the Kings had last year, he started well and then had to spend the year in the main team because the other three pointers were so bad. He's a lot better than Verge.

Clifton will start at reserve undoubtedly but is likely to move up after the first set of averages, then it depends who is at reserve from that point going forward. Assuming the Kings go with three three-pointers that is, you'd think they'll have learnt their lesson this year however.

Kent tried x3 3.00 men this season and it didn't work at all. So surely they won't try again. However maybe Basford was destined for the number 8 spot and as well as the travelling, he wants a regular spot.

Im certain that Len is stubborn enough to try x3 3.00 riders again. Needs to different from last years dross though.

As for Basford he was always heading elsewhere. Last year was just a chance to put himself in the shop window.

From Kent's press release as to why Clifton cant ride at reserve: 'the numbers 6 & 7 in an NL team: slots restricted to riders of three point averages only at the start of the season.' Well if this is a new rule brought in then how can Ruddick ride at reserve for Mildenhall & Kinsley for KL? Why don't Kent just sign 5 riders with a higher average than Clifton!

I also thought that was odd from the press release. Is it Chris getting confused, have Kent already signed another 3 pointer or have the rules been changed but not announced?

So it says the rules are 6 & 7 must start season on a 3 average.

How petty is the NL to insist a rider who has not raced for 10 years must start on 3.50 ?

Trouble is now Kent must find another 3 pointer to go with Jack and this could be a big problem.

But it does leave it open for Morley to return.

And leaves 1 more place - Mark Baseby or Kingston ?

Nah my view is track Luke at reserve, plenty of points to get 3 higher average riders in main body.

Clifton could be key scoring big at reserve but having to go at #2 against numbers 1's after 12 years plus out could be very tough and quickly dwindle clifton enthusiasm

If that's the rules the Kings Lynn and Mildenhall are going against them? Mildenhall only by a tiny bit.

Still think Clifton is cheap on a 3.50 from what ive heard so not too panicked. However the list of 3 pointers with some experience / composure are limited now as most have been snapped up.

I think its more likely that Chris has got confused or simply wants to track x2 3.00 men. Nobody else has mentioned the rule but we know that we don't get told everthing.

A rider with previous experience with an average over 3 should not have that reduced to 3 IMO as it puts out there as a direct alternative to, potentially, a 15 year old on 3 who's trying to break through and get his first chance of NL racing. Depending on experience and previous average 3½ or 4 (higher relative to previous if relevant to a rider) seems fair to me.

Don't want another 3 pointer, and tbf after the hand signals Marc Owen gave kent fans on more then one occasion this year I can't see him being popular with the faithful.

Ritchings would certainly do a job. Think he has peaked somewhat but could certainly hold his own at 3 or 5.
