iris123
Look, I presume that you are not working in your first language but you (and those liking your post who really have no excuse) are failing (I do hope accidentally) to understand my post. Look,i was liking his post for the fact that he said that signs are that bosses won't go on agreeing to high rider demands and absolutely nothing to do with anything you post mate.If you can understand this,i find it great that bosses at sometime will come around to thinking we can't go on like this forever. That is it,full stop.I don't really care for most of your posts and my liking of the post had absolutely zero to do with you Edited January 9, 2016 by iris123
Dawkins20
In my view the time has come for some kind of Rider control in Poland- the Leszno top 5 for 2016 in Pedersen,Sayfutdinov ,kildemand, piotr pawlicki and Zengota is frankly ridiculously strong. yes they have the minimum number of Polish riders quota and the U21 Polish reserves-but I think the time has come for a points limit for the top 5. We might see a reduction in the quality of the teams overall-but if the points limit was set right cost savings could happen. Points limit is the worst possible answer. I dont want to see riders losing on purpose to manipulate their average... If they want control a salary cap could work. In speedway squads are much more sensitive to injuries than any other team sports so a strong top 5 doesnt mean immediate championships or even playoffs. I will do my best, however you will need to do a bit yourself. 1 check out where Ryanair and Wizzair fly to in Poland- and Easy jet fly to Krakow 2 the internet will tell you what airports are nearest to which towns 3 I find http://www.bahn.de/p_en/view/index.shtml best for train times in Europe. Certainly you have plenty of choice with Wroclaw riding in Poznan. Torun and Grudziadz not far from Bydgoszcz. Gorzow and Zielona Gora near each other in the west of the country. Leszno near Poznan/Wroclaw and Rybnik and Tarnow in the south. Edited January 10, 2016 by racers and royals
Ghostwalker
Points limit is the worst possible answer. I dont want to see riders losing on purpose to manipulate their average... If they want control a salary cap could work. In speedway squads are much more sensitive to injuries than any other team sports so a strong top 5 doesnt mean immediate championships or even playoffs. Salary cap have been tested in Sweden and it was too easy to circumvent since some teams used "hidden" payment were the riders salary were paid from the sponsors rather from the team. So while the teams on paper looked like they were below the salary cap, they were in reality far over it. Salary cap works well in i.e. NHL but the players are not freelancing consultants like the speedway riders are: They players have a fixed employment with the (only) team (franchise) they are playing for, the salaries are public information and very few, if any, players have private sponsors in the same way as speedway riders do. How are you going to control a speedway riders payments? How do you determine which/how much money are private sponsorship and how much is "hidden" salary?
uk_martin
what is public transport like in Poland, how is it using the trains and buses? Very cheap. The trains are not the fastest but I've not been let down by them reliability or punctuality wise, although we always get to hear the horror stories. Since Poland has been getting more and more German rolling stock "hand me down's" things have improved from the olden days. There are more inter-city coach options now too. Check out the PolskiBus web site. Inter-City coaches are often quicker than trains between destinations, so if the timetable suits, that is well worth looking at. Car hire is also very cheap over there. I've had weekend deals for £55-£60 or so which when there are a few of you traveling together and sharing the cost, can be a good option. whowasthatberntpersson
Any experiences of the best way to get to Zielena Gora via UK airports? Not particularly keen on driving in Poland. I see Poznan will be hosting Wroclaw meetings too, easy access from the airport? Great idea Poznan airport is the nearest to Zielona Gora- buses leave from airport to Poznan regularly. trains from Poznan to ZG take about 1hr 50 mins. DutchGrasstrack
What's wrong with driving in Poland? It's no problem.
racers and royals
What's wrong with driving in Poland? It's no problem. Agree-and the poster on some of the GP threads has done plenty of driving abroad-also if driving Berlin would be an option for an airport for Zielona Gora.
uk_martin
I've driven the round trip from Poznan to Gorzow (SGP) and on to Zielona Gora (Sunday league meeting) and back to Poznan, and I'd say that there's nothing to worry about. The roads are in good condition, and traffic is moderate at worst and light most of the time. I've even driven to Zielona Gora from Szczecin and back in a day, and again, it's one long road, (OK, I picked up passengers in Gorzow on the way) and no problems incurred on that trip either. Szczecin may not be an obvious airport to think about, but there are some cheap flights to be had there. So if you don't mind driving in a straight line for a couple of hours, then it's worth considering.

uk_martin
Thought we had a horror story to tell MB!!! Jeez! Ok, so the Gorzow to Poznan train was a bit full...A victim of it's own popularity lol. Maybe so many Stal fans traveling home? Perhaps? But despite all the people getting on and off, it still arrived in Poznan on time!

uk_martin
You've forgotten our Poznan to Gorzow train stop-more-than-go, baking ride? lol Er yeah...lol...Every day was baking that trip though. That's one to think about when going to Poland. Temperatures there can be higher than in the UK. 30c-35c is common in the summer. And it's humid. Don't skimp on aircon when booking hotel rooms.
