Can any of our Polish members tells us what this is about? http://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/579317/greg-hancock-zaplaci-za-klamstwa-klubow

Something about Greg H, something about illegal/illegitimate clauses in the contracts or something like that.

It seems, according to the article, that Greg will be fined and possible also loose a large sum of money?

Hancock signed few illegal agreements with clubs from Bydgoszcz and Rzeszów.

In Bydgoszcz he signed agreement in case of decreasing his results. Polish speedway regulations says that the club may decrease payment to the rider if this rider decrease his position in final league averages classification. Greg signed illegal agreement with Polonia says the club would not decrease his payment. The club management changed at the end of season Greg started in Bydgoszcz and "new people" decided to show this illegal agreement to league authorities. Polonia had to pay the fine but thanks to that the club was able to cut Greg payment of 100.000 zł. Hancock put this case to PZM tribunal but has rather no chance to win.

In Rzeszów he signed additional agreement last year - it says that the club should find sponsor for 500.000 zł for Greg, if no - this money should be payed by the club. Such agreement is also illegal (it's like second contract with the same club) but after lat season auditors found it in the club. It means the club don't have to pay this money to Greg but both sides would probably be fined for signing such agreement.

Even while you can say with all honesty that Hancocks extra deals are illegal, they are still agreements between two parties that have been accepted by both.

All this crap just underlines the fact that if a rider signs a deal in Poland, he sells his soul( some rider said that) to a sum that might be totally different than what the paper states. And if it comes down to a point that the club fails it's commitments, they make up some excuse and end up fining the rider with PZM backing the club when push come's to shove.

In these cases both sides of agreements were fined by PZM or Extraleague. But it's not only in Poland - few years ago we had similiar case in Sweden (with Rune Holta? and his club). I think most riders - if they can get really more money than official - are able to sign (or just agree) such illegal agreements :(

Holta was not the only one, it was a problem in Sweden with many sports that the sponsorship money or pay was paid in such a way that the taxman got upset. Many Finnish ice hockey players for example had to pay hundreds of thousands of tax years after the fact.

But my moral (questionable or not) dont see a problem in a side deal that states me having to find a sponsor for a rider in order to get his signature.

Yes that is right. The tax authority didn't considered the sponsorship money to be actual sponsorship but a form of indirect salary.

The difference is that sponsorship money is tax deductable (at least to some extent) while regular salary is not.

So it was considered that Holta (and i think also Jason Crump) had received the sponsorship money is such a way that it was an attempt

to escape taxes. It can also be used as a way to circumvent salary cap even if there isn't any salary cap in use any more.

They are both tax deductable. But if I would hire you to my company and paid you 10k a month, I'd have to also pay for your insurances and other which would actually mean you would cost me around 15k a month. This is pretty accurate on how it works in Finland at the moment. But if I were to sponsor you with 10k a month, you would only cost me 10k a month and all insurances and taxes would be your problem.

Such deal is not a problem but...

If such point would be in one contract between Hancock and Rzeszów club together with another details - it is OK. But they signed one "official" contract which was sent to PZM and second deal according this "sponsorship" money. That is the problem.

How is it best to get tickets in Poland? In Zielona Gora last year we ordered them before hand and collected them from the shopping centre. If going to Leszno in April which would be the best way to get tickets? Any help would be much appreciated.

Leszno is such a big stadium that there is bound to be tickets available on the day-they have several windows selling tickets.
