The Third Man
Looks like all teams to have a NL rider at number 7, that should reduce costs for promoters and supporters then
Ben91
Looks like all teams to have a NL rider at number 7, that should reduce costs for promoters and supporters then The points limit is the same, having a NL rider at reserve rather than a Dilger/Davey/Maassen/Konopka won't make things any cheaper for fans but it is better for the sport in Britain. Imagine having to watch a British prospect improve across the year rather than a poor foreign import go through the motions in his 14th spell in the PL on a 'bargain' average.

How would reserve swaps be handled? Or would they not be allowed unless it was the drafted 7 covering for the 6? The eternal cynic in me could see a drafted 7 asked to withdraw through injury after one ride of an important match so the "senior" reserve could cover and reap the spoils. Normal rules I would think. There'll be one less chance for a swap anyway as there are going to be 2 reserve races which is more of a worry about how that affects the rest of the format. It doesn't have to affect the race format. Just make sure they ride at

Shadders
I can see a loophole regarding the "protected" heat 4. What if, for example, the number 7 has a fall, not excluded and isn't able to take his place in the rerun, but isn't signed off. Do his side go with one rider, or does the number 6 replace him? It will, heats 2 & 4 are going to be reserve races. In the PL? Edited October 19, 2015 by Shads

Would have been better with the original idea No6 & No 7 drafted, and a reduced points average of 35, it lokks like self interest goy in the way again
AJK86
I don't think there are two reserve races just that heat 2 and 4 are protected for the number 7 riders so they go up against each other twice.
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
My biggest worry IF this format and set up is true is that it could make the likes of Konopka even more attractive for the No6 position. 2 guaranteed races against NL opposition and signing him instead of say Eliis on 4.5+ gives an extra 1.5 for the top 5. Both could/ should get same points in those reserve heats.....
Shadders
There will be a scramble for the best 3 pointers with the top payers getting the pick of the bunch. Better to use the NFL draft system where the team that finished bottom gets first choice, 2nd bottom gets the next pick and so on
Mr Blobby
Is there even 13 NL 3 pointers that are up to standard? Don't really pay that much attention to the NL so wouldn't really know.

SCB
It will, heats 2 & 4 are going to be reserve races. I don't think thats what it means. The number 7 will ride at #7. The number 7 goes out in heat 2 (protected) and then heat 4 is currently the 2 5 and 7s, that will be protected too so that the number 7s ride against each other (plus the number 5). Rather than heat 4 being another reserve race. I think/hope anyway!
allthegearbutnaeidea
Surely Adam Ellis and others who have a PL average over 3 will be in this No.7 draft, as it says riders who are eligible for the NL will be in the draft, is people like Roynon, Hall and Rose eligible? Should find out in March one way or the other!
