Glasgow V Edinburgh The Final 16th/17th October @7.30pm/7.00pm

Recommended Posts

Teams for Saturday as per Edinburgh Press Release:-

TEAMS FOR THE PREMIER CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL SECOND LEG MATCH AT ARMADALE ON
SATURDAY 17th October (start time 7.00, doors open 6.00) are:

EDINBURGH BORDER ROOFING MONARCHS: Craig Cook (capt.), Justin Sedgmen, Kevin
Wolbert, Erik Riss, Sam Masters, Max Clegg, Rob Branford.

GLASGOW ALLIED VEHICLE TIGERS: Richard Lawson, rider replacement for Kauko
Nieminen, Aaron Summers, Nick Morris, Victor Palovaara, Hynek Stichauer,
James Sarjeant.

Pairing Summers & Morris could be quite a shrewd move as it ensures that their recognised 2nd & 3rd heat leaders appear in heats 12 & 14 and Morris could also cover ht 8 as r/r.

The downside is that Palovaara plus reserve appear to be a weaker pairing in three heats, though it does avoid either Morris or Summers having to face Edinburgh's powerhouse pairing of Cook & Masters in heat 13.

I believe Dave Robinson will be the referee for this match.

Another thing to add, I have checked back on all his tapes offences of the last 2 seasons and apart from the farcical one from 15 metres on Sky, James has only ever touched the tapes when off gate 2 or 3. Which suggests he sees some moment from 1 or 4 and goes. When he's off 1 or 4 and only has the tapes to watch, he just makes good starts. If he was anticipating he'd have far more than 5 tape exclusions in 2 seasons, he'd be touching them once a meeting surely, as nobody can get that lucky? He gets called back at least once a meeting now, how can he get lucky enough to one in every 4ish races to drop the clutch as the ref is pressing the button but only once every 20 meetings drop the clutch half a second or more before the referee presses the button? Because it's not like he rolls, he is either a witch who can anticipate with paranormal levels of accuracy or he just very good!

If he was rolling or tape touching every meeting I'd say he was trying to cheat. As it is, I don't think he is.

What amazes me is that a referee can be deemed eagle eyed enough to know Sarjeant jumped but Sarjeant can't be eagle eyed enough to just make good starts. All those referees calling him back are wasted in the referees box, they should all be out on track as they'd all lead every race into the 1st bend!

edit> but he does need to get over this issue of jumping when he's off 2 or 3. Regardless of why it is. I wonder if James or anyone close to him is even aware it's a big issue off 2 and 3? And as such are trying to work out why.

Poor wee James

Morris at 4 means my shout of Sedgmen to match him should have happened

Starting to get excited..... and I just read on the BBC Website that the CHEAPEST match day ticket to watch Jose Morinho have a nervous breakdown is £52.

For that you get two matches featuring the most exciting clubs in Premier Speedway and still have enough for a pie and a pint. Lets hope the crowds really turn out for this and fill both teams coffers full. And it gets some new faces seeing what an entertaining sport speedway is.

And Edinburgh get pumped.

Where is everyone? I can't believe how quiet its is on here before such a huge meeting....I bet it comes to life tomorrow after 9.30pm. I guess like myself nobody wants to bump their gums and make no predictions.

Come half 9 tomorrow night na scrap that it's a glasgow match so god knows what time of the night the meeting will end. I'll happily take a 6 point loss as I feel we are more than capable of pulling that back on Saturday. Or we could just go and win tomorrow i'd prefer that really. :approve:

Onto Saturday. Wee Stew changing the riding order thinking it will work again. But he seems to forget we were terrible that night, not now though peeked at the right time.

Anyway monarchs win overall. Can't wait for it all to start now.

Well in that case yes we are so good. We just can't help it these days.

All joking aside hoping for two great nights off racing with everyone staying fit the atmosphere at both venues will be electric.

Have to put the Monarchs as favourites as they produce it time after time but you just never know.

BOMBER HARRIS COMING TO GLASGOW... just a shame there's no Tigers Kevlars for him. He'll get a shock when he sees what we are putting on up here.

Heard that young James will be giving him some tuition on his gating.
