Can't see the draft system working now. Let's go hypothetical here.

Kerr or Garrity obtain (absolutely possible) a 10 average from 4 meetings, could they then get replaced by Nicki Pedersen?

They're unlikely to get much more than 6 riding at number 6 using the "traditional" format (as in the current PL). But no, they couldn't be replaced as each club will always have to have the FTRs in the team. I think this is one of the better rules, it will force some of the better reserve to push themselves against more of the better riders now. They've had two years of having their hand held and their backsides wiped, now it time to let them go free and make a go of it.

Would hope the replacement is the lowest av rider in the top 5, but I assume he may not be a Brit.

Will Richie Worral lose out again with this system, this year he missed out as riders on a par with him were allowed in the fast track system and he was not.Auty,Garrety,S Worral,Kerr,Wright and Newman (same prem average) all had better prem averages than him this season.Yet they will all get an average worked out from their prem league performances.Richie rode in the Elite league in 2014 and had an average of 5.53 if he has to keep that average next year will anyone sign him in the 1 to 5 when he will have an average higher than the best fast track rider.

Interesting one. There is a chance if Richie did get a EL spot then he could very well be a reserve after 4 meetings. Might be worth a punt for someone.

Good to see they have introduced the heatleader grading. This was definitely needed to counteract the averages from second strings.

While other countries have next season already sorted, thus enabling riders to organise work / accommodation / sponsors etc … Good old England has to wait another ten days, ( which is a lot earlier than previous years )

Brilliant! BSPA no longer have jurisdiction over Scotland .... Friday's for Glasgow it is then! ;)

Watt is averaging over 7 he just has to be on the heatleader list.

He's rode most of the season as a second string, so unlikely to be.

Poole will end up with something along the lines of

Holder, Dudek, Kennett, Watt, Lambert, Newman, Ellis and walk the league.

They have a low averaging no 1, there won't be any decent riders coming back into the league, so if they snap up Dudek they have a massive advantage there, effectively replacing Janowski. They'll secure a bargain low average 3rd heat leader than snap up the best of the 'second strings' of which it wouldn't surprise me Watt is one of them.

Normally Watt's 7+ average would be a bad thing, but with the pts limit being high (given the reserves conversions) and the averages of their heat leaders low, they'll be able to fit him in.

The only way it can be done fairly is to re-calculate averages split between races at heat-leader and races at second-string and then apply a weighting to level it up.

Spot on.

Fair isn't in the vocabulary though!

Newman is an interesting case.

He actually has a higher EL average than a PL average, the only other rider to achieve that was Birks and he only rode a handful of meetings.

Does riding for his local club just bring the best out of him?

Depending on the T1 group, given that Blackbird/Birks are not riding in 2016, Newman could actually be the 8th on the list if they find 2 higher averaged draftees!

If they don't find any other draftees, it's likely (I am presuming) Starke and Bates would take their places in the T1 group, meaning Simon Lambert would be the highest averaged T2 pick, even though his EL average was, well, not so great compared to his PL average.

So riders such as Lindgren, Nicholls, Hans Andersen etc.. will no doubt be on the 'heat leader list'.

That list will obviously be quite limited as no big names are likely to be attracted to the league.

Due to the FTR conversions, the pts limit is going to be high, i.e. teams will be struggling to reach it.

It's going to boil down to who can get the best of the non heat leader list...

We all know who that will be!

Correct,

It simply is a matter of logistics for the 'big names'....

Tai, Emil, Pedersen, Hancock, Hampel all earn more than enough riding in max two leagues, two nights a week on big contracts...

Then have five nights off each week....

Riders at the 'top level' simply dont need British Speedway and putting up team averages to 50 wont tempt them to come (not that any team could afford it)...

Interesting that Magic is someone who is mentioned as likely to give British Speedway a miss now his stock has risen in the GP which in turn has no doubt done no harm to his negotiating position in both Poland and Sweden....

British Speedway has the '2nd tier' of top riders (at best), who put up with riding three or four nights a week over here until their reputation has been enhanced enough to get more money from the World's top two leagues...

British Speedway now needs to plough its own furrow with a clear identity communicated to the fans to protect its own business...

The current 'halfway house' of trying to be all things to all men simply doesnt work...

I would say it's a bit of riding for his local club & the fact the riders in the Premier league are better quality than definitely the 2nd draft rider with Kyle.

Once again it woulld seem that cutting costs has been the priority rather than improve the product.

Not really true though is it.

An enterprising British promoter could sign Tai Woffinden, Emil Sayfutdinov and Nicki Pedersen and fill the remaining team places with low average 'fill-ins'. The last way to describe that would be a 'cost cutting team', but it is allowed in the rules.

The option of speculating to accumulate is there should any promoter wish to take that route, assuming of course they could convince the 'big names' to come back.
