Daniel Smith
Fixed race nights are good to a point. That point is injuries to heatleaders. R/R or squads just won't cut it for me. As I've mentioned before, quite simply restrict the number of time EL teams can ride in a week i.e. 1 home, 1 away. That is as good as fixed race nights but better imo. Calendars can be planned much better for the top riders + those doubling up. The plan would then be the EL release their fixtures, then the PL works around their double up riders to minimise fixture clashes, then the NL release theirs. It's very simple but I know what some are going to say with their blinkers on, "why should the PL work around the EL?" It's simple, we have to make the Elite League the pinnacle of British Speedway and an aim that all British riders want to be at. It the produce at the very top is good, it then filters down to the lower leagues. It's all about working together. The Elite League is what sells the sport to future sponsors, future riders, future fans. We have to get it right, now. Buster is the ideal, but I just think the other promoters will as always shackle any improvements.
ch958
I would be for it, but not for the return of big stars we can't afford, but more for teams not having to borrow guests when DU's teams are riding on the same night. I completely agree

speedibee
Actually, Cov ran on Saturdays for most if not all of their first half century. 3 matches a month with Stock Cars on the first Saturday of the month. It was when they changed from Saturdays that I stopped going to every match. I knew about Saturdays but didnt add it because , when Robinn Took Coventry over , he tried different nights to leave Saturdays open for dog racing , stock cars and bangers , all the other nights got tried and none were popular friday was kept as the best of the bunch ,because he had no intention of gigving saturdays back to speedway , Someone please post a list of these "top riders" , and dont include .Hancock who clearly made his choice 3 years ago , or Sajfutdinov who has no interest in riding outside his sponsors televised area , I would prefer to see the worlds best occasionally riding in Individuals or pairs events than see them week in week out , that way a visit from the big guns attracts decent crowds and media attention , and doesnt bankrupt any clubs paying them . g13webb
In an ideal world, we could have specific race nights and Squad team systems as well. Pick the usual team of 1 to 7, and then have 3 extra riders to use when required. An extra Heatleader , A extra Second string, and a stand-in reserve all of similar ability of the permanent team riders. People will point to the extra cost for the promoters, but I sure on a 'pay on required' basis wouldn't be much more. There must be loads of riders willing to do a few extra meetings when required. Least that way, most injuries would be covered. These replacement riders are only used in cases of Injuries or International Duties The fans would know their teams and replacements, the pressure of team availability would be far easier when re-arranging fixtures, and there would be more continuality on a weekly basis.

heathen chemistry
squads will never work ,, theres not enough riders , imagine the cost clubs are on the brink, and poole would just end up buying all the best riders leaving nothing for the other teams ... standard 1-7 if you get an injury sign another rider........ simples

SteveLyric2
So do we not know the whole rules/format yet??? What is the long wait for???? Give 'em a chance. The AGM part 2 only finished on Tuesday evening with some changes to what had been proposed at Part 1. Then they all had to go to London to ,meet the Politicians. They get rightly criticised for making announcements too quickly and leaving important details out. Lets hope that the extra time means that when the official statement comes, its a full and detailed explanation and something the new chairman is happy to put his name to?!. Lets not forget as fans we're still a couple of weeks in advance of previous seasons!! Edited November 8, 2015 by Skidder1

KIRKYLANE
Friday and Saturday are the best two days to run Speedway. They have inherent obstacles which can be overcome when clashes occur. THe new Chairman is talking of two race nights for the EL..... my money is on Wednesday and Friday

rusky
For what its worth, I firmly believe that speedway in the UK desperately needs to get back to having a high number of Friday > Sunday tracks. There is a desperate need to get youngsters interested in watching live speedway. My daughter loves speedway but hardly ever gets to see it live, as being 12 years old she can't go to speedway on a school night. The local track to where she lives only operates on a Wednesday night, and annoyingly there are never local Bank Holiday meetings nowadays either so we really are limited to school holiday times, or indeed Cardiff for the GP
