customhouseregular
It's the one man Norman Jacobs Appreciation Society here again to say how much I enjoyed reading the above-named tome, particularly the chapters on the 1946 Wembley v West Ham London Cup Final and the 1965 Wimbledon v West Ham Knock-out Cup 1/4 Final ( ). I was at Wimbledon for the 1965 meeting but 1946 was a little early for me, though I did attend meetings in 1947 as an embryo ( ).
norbold
Thank you, chr, but I think I should say that Chris Broadbent wrote half the book so I can't claim all the credit for this one. I was at the Wimbledon v. West Ham meeting in 1965 as well. I can still remember it much clearer than any more recent meetings. It was undoubtedly the best meeting I have ever been to. What are your memories of it? (By the way, why didn't I see you there? ) Edited October 8, 2015 by norbold

What are your memories of it? (By the way, why didn't I see you there? ) I'm embarrassed to admit it Norbold but time has diminished my memories. It has taken your book to bring it all back. Between 1964 and 1969 I was probably getting to 3 meetings a week and even the really great meetings have become lost to me. at Wimbledon I usually stood overlooking the second bend. By the way, my 87 year old Mum who was born in Poplar really enjoyed pie 'n' mash and prefabs.
ColinMills
probably on wrong thread here, but 1994 last one off world final, a 3 way run off for the title...the only time its ever happened?

No way, please add me to the Norman Jacobs Appreciation Society- I just got the book "Pie and Mash etc." Great read and highly recommended Thank you, chr, but I think I should say that Chris Broadbent wrote half the book so I can't claim all the credit for this one. What are your memories of it? (By the way, why didn't I see you there? ) I reckon you didn't see CHR, Norbold, because he was stood behind the tallest ever speedway rider-which as we all know was either Graham Miles, Johnny Fitzgerald or Archie Windmill. That meeting btw which I wasn't at was the most famous performance by Simmo IMHO ever !! Couldn't believe it when I read about it in the Speedway Star.
lucifer sam
probably on wrong thread here, but 1994 last one off world final, a 3 way run off for the title...the only time its ever happened? Off the top of my head, 1951, 1960 and 1985 were three other years with a three-man run-off. All the best Rob
norbold
Yes, Rob. 1951 being the famous one of course and one of the meetings featured in Speedway's Classic Meetings.
