Argos
When I team flyes in a rider at midday to race in a NL meeting then flyes him out again next morning what the hell is the NL coming to,
Countershaftcounter
It's more a sad indictment of the teams need to win ( and please. No rubbish about pleasing sponsors ) than the death of the NL. it's also a mockery of the English only rule. At least BWD moved here for the season, he's trading on his English grandparents but commited the year to being here.
uk_martin
There's every chance that the NL will revert to "Division Two" status when the EL and PL merge for 2016. All former Corinthian values can then be transferred over to the amateur and development leagues, as the 2nd Division (under whatever guise it takes) will just become a "mini me" of the "first division". catinthehat
I guess its just brought the NL up to another level, this is a step forward for the British Speedway to fly a BRITISH RIDER in, why keep the league at a low level needs to step up again, this is more like the old Second division way back in the 1970 and 1980s this is the the way forward i think. Shame that it started with Adam Ellis at the Island when they started to fly him in . Rye House when they do it from Branford from Scotland to Stanstead, but its cheaper then travel by car for Rye House then it is by Car for Branford and same for Spiller. Easyjet is easy come and easy go. xxxxx But have to say well done to Eastbourne for making sure the spiller does all the meetings and well done for the lad who has given up school time to make his dream come true to race speedway in the UK. Long hard days for Spiller but the young lad is dong great. I think UK Martin could be right and raise the points limit to 42 for the NL and make it the second division. Let the MDL have the lower class riders and let them step up when they are ready. Edited October 8, 2015 by catinthehat
Popular Post Jonny the spud
When Adam rode for the Isle of Wight, he was never flown in, I drove him twice and after that he moved in with Matt Read who has helped him ever since. I think maybe later in the year he had one flight and I paid for that so that he could see his Family as being 16 and a long way from home he was feeling homesick. There seems to be a lot of posting recently about him being sponsored with vans by clubs and one even suggested he took the easy route this year in the NL to get a minimum of £600 a meeting. All complete bollocks i'm afraid . Adam left school early and committed himself to chasing his dream, shame some posters feel the need to spout misinformed crap.
stevec
I am beginning to feel like a Poole fan. Reading posts about how our management will do whatever is needed to try and win, spend money or bringing a legal rider over, how dare they! At the end of the day he's British and he lives abroad. If a club has enough money to do something like that let them .
catinthehat
If Adam was getting paid £600 per meeting its really none of our business, Who cares who gets paid what or how they all run at the end of the day if the club can pay it and can survive is it not up to the club how they run? I pay an extra £1 to watch Adam ride for the Eagles as the Birmimgham would. Hats off to all the riders becuase if they can get the money and the help they may as well take it when they can, some riders are always going to get more then others. Whos to say that the whole team is not going live in a house together and travel in a coach like the old days less cost to travel Edited October 8, 2015 by catinthehat

Who's to say that the whole team is not going live in a house together and travel in a coach like the old days less cost to travel The travelling together wouldn't work as riders are living in different parts of the country and in some cases the journey to the track would be shorter than meeting the other riders for the coach. JTS (Adam's dad I believe) already stated that the £600 figure and the club sponsoring the van rumours aren't true.
Alex2000
No flys on Eastbourne this year. Or is Argos going to set up a "no fly zone" for the National League? How will that be monitored? The RAF, USAF, French and Russians all look pretty busy at the moment but perhaps Gatwick could become fog-bound any time an aircraft carrying a speedway rider wants to land. Ges pointing at spiller he is flown in each meeting. But there's no problem with that
Filth
Argos you seem to really have it in for Eastbourne. Where's the problem in flying a British rider over from his adopted homeland to ride speedway? He's a kid trying to live his dream as a speedway rider, I can't see how anyone can complain. It's common knowledge amongst the fans at Eastbourne that Daniel rides for free, because he's doing it for the love of the sport and to gain experience, Eastbourne only supply him with bikes and flights. Shall we have a whinge about how Branford learnt his trade in Australia and is flown down from Edinburgh to ride for rye house each week? Thought not... arnieg
I would imagine Spiller's journey is easier than that of say Chris Julian who lived in Cornwall and rode for Glasgow (in 1964 I think)
chopper
I see it as having a positive affect , you have added a quality rider to the NL , if he's eligable no problems. Robert wouldn't have been able to ride for Rye without flying , and I think it was actually cheaper to fly than pay mileage. I was a bit sceptical it would work but he only missed one meeting that he could have ridden and that was more because he had to drive to bring his bikes home as he had a meeting the next day, it took some organising at times and he relied on pick up and drop offs at airports but it seemed to work. catinthehat
Chopper it says it all. Like they said no rules in how riders travel from a to b or are they going to police that next year. Cheaper to fly rob makes sense. If you had to pay for a van plus fuel plus wages for rider and mechanic then to fly makes sense. This is the start to the new NL Add the price of flights for perks return flight (£1300) then divide it by 20 meetings is £65 then plus the internal fuel money to get to meetings would be more expensive then Spillers flights. I think open and swallow comments while eating humble pie xxxx Edited October 8, 2015 by catinthehat
Ben91
Its not the 1960s anymore. You get dirt cheap flights to and from England these days. Edited October 9, 2015 by Ben91

gee jay
I would imagine Spiller's journey is easier than that of say Chris Julian who lived in Cornwall and rode for Glasgow (in 1964 I think) if we just stick to eastbourne this year spiller probably gets from home to arlington in less time than ben hopwood who travels down from the manchester area i think, anyone would think he's parachuting in courtesy of the luftwaffe it's just jealousy and the more silverware they win the more envious and spiteful some people get . can't wait to read all the venom when they fly ethan in as well as daniel . what moaning will they be doing about tom brennan perhaps he'll be living too close ? catinthehat
No one can live closer then David Mason, they were thinking of flying him in but by the time the plane took off it had to land again. you can see the stadium lights from his kitchen dave cant see them unless he stands on a Box "Sorry DAVID"
