Sudden Sam Unveiling New Jawa Engine..

Recommended Posts

Surely once someone buys one of these they'll take it apart and add the super parts to it. Why is it any different to now?

they could actually do something and make rules to stop this but then that far to radical speedway and purge the sport of the dreaded tuners once and for all stem the income stream and they will disappear leaving the sport once and for all at league level

Personally would love to see that but why do you need new engines to do that? Why couldn't they do that with the old style engines?

As it is, I don't see what engine tuners add to the sport. They just take money. I get why riders use them but ban then, eradicate them in some other way and I don't see how the sport will be any worse for it. But will be richer!

It would appear that a GM out of the box cant be used and needs work on it to make it usable don't ask me why but that's what I have read

Sam was a bit more lucid today and, from the sound of it, it's intended to be like the 150cc youth box class, with no tuning allowed & serviced with only standard parts to give young riders an easier ride when they switch to senior classes. Price is intended to be under £2.5k. He also said he'd like to run the odd meeting with top riders all on equal equipment but I can't see many buying into that. 7 of the main meeting riders had two heats & a final with times within a couple of seconds slower.

Sounds promising you would not notice the difference in the time

Whether its this new Jawa engine or the Gerrard engine (the one Chris Harris using) or any other that comes along, I think its good for speedway.

Got to get the costs down, and competition among engine manufacturers will help to do that, and get the youngsters riding bikes that are more easily manageable, let them develop into the faster bikes.

It might force a few Tuners to reduce their Prices too?  :nono: :nono:

I can't make my mind up what he means by increased cylinder head capacity. Is he referring to the combustion chamber volume i.e. lower compression, or have I misread it and he actually means the engine actually has a greater swept volume? Help please someone?

Lower compression, all part of giving new riders a 'softer' engine.

Why didn't he just say so? You can lower the compression just by using a packer or thicker gasket, so I don't understand all the guff about more material in the head.

Actually, increasing the capacity (by the accepted definition, i.e. swept volume) would be a better idea. Whatever, I agree with many others on here that riders will continue to spend megabucks on tuners and special parts as long as they an afford to. A ban on certain exotic / expensive materials would be a start.

It turns out that he was talking about swept volume, the engines are 570cc.

So it's completely pointless as far as Speedway is concerned???

A bit like me inventing a cricket bat that helps defend more of the wicket....it's 2 feet wide.....oh, and it can't be used in a cricket match.

No, he's talking about running as a separate class as an extension to the youth classes.
