Ben91
There's a hell of a difference between an amateur darts match and a professional, far, far more so than comparing say, an NL race with EL. Speedway isn't darts, thank God. There is this constant, stupid assumption amongst too many speedway supporters that you can only get a good race between the best riders. You may get the best riding but riding and racing are completely different things! The public are completely bombarded by journalists and publicists constantly trying to convince them that something is important. The chief weapon is to promote 'personalities'. I've had to do it. Reading this forum you can see how gullible their readers are. So would you happily pay £18 to watch NL speedway? That's more than £1 per minute of entertainment, that's a rip off. The world today isn't one which just accepts what they are told by the press or by people in authority. If people want to watch the best that is their prerogative and it is a completely understandable thought process, it's like having the choice between a burger and a steak, they may both satisfy your hunger but the steak is going to be the choice made by the majority. Again, try debating and not just shooting people down because they don't agree with your own ideas, ones that you are struggling to justify making here.

ColinMills
was the team colours brought in for tv? if so, couldn't they just be worn when sky are in town?...individual "leathers" always stood out for me, it added far more colour to the sport than these dreary team suits, only a small matter, but I personally don't think team colours has enhanced the spectacle
customhouseregular
You may have a point there Colin. Nigel in his blue leathers and Broadbank in red added a lot of individuality, though I do think team colours look more professional.
ruckerroo
I also think that certain tracks have better atmospheres than others irrespective of the league. Although an infrequent visitor I love my odd trip to monmore green, I liked Queensway meadows but I wouldn't give you tuppence to go to blunsdon . This year my adopted team Eastbourne dropped 2 leagues and although I've only been to about 7 home and 3 away I've thoroughly enjoyed the enthusiasm in the side albeit in the bottom league I just don't really get this draft thing, way too much of a gulf in class amongst the young lads too I also think that certain tracks have better atmospheres than others irrespective of the league. In 1999, Sky's first year of showing the Elite League, team colours were not used by most teams. The only team that I can remember using them in 99 was Peterborough. heathen chemistry
the fast track has to stay , it works in poland where pawlicki, predpelski, maksim drabik ride at reserve......its helped there progress ,so can only help ours the points limit is ok as it is teams can more or less stay the same or even strenthen a little , so the product isnt been made weaker this time limit foreigners to 4 each team all elite clubs to have a 2nd half , be it junior match , or old japs or watever , the public need to get more value for money all riders that touch the tapes go off 15 a reserve not allowed to replace them matces have to go to 13 heats to be declared , so many ten heat farces this year when should of been abandoned earlier

Kyle at Poole & Jason at Coventry for a couple of seasons has boosted those two teams immensely . How they were allowed to stay at the clubs for a further season was down to the " other " Promotions . Does make you wonder how the Aces would have faired with either of them at No 7 last season . Alex2000
I want the best riders. Personally. Move to Poland then. Kill 2 birds with one stone you get to see the "big name" on a sheet of paper and the ones that want speedway to move in a positive direction in England can see that happen. When you say I want to see big names, how many meetings do those "big names" miss for foreign commitments? What you like to see is the likes of Zagar 6 times a year and guest fests for the rest!

Alex2000
IS FTR / doubling up/ double points/reduced crowds the right direction? FTR is yes because the likes of Newman and Garrity have found their feet in the EL and are DEDICATED ,which some of the top riders aren't dedicated to the British league. If you mean doubling up leagues then yes because it gives riders more track time. Double points so what? I know some people are narrow minded and Will pay £20pp to see follow the leader. Check your English because you can't reduce crowds up!
ColinMills
alex, feel free to pay your money and watch what pleases you. its a second rate amateur sport in England now, I am not paying to watch youngsters learn their trade. And when/if they do, no doubt they will disappear in the sunset too. !!

Just airing my views that I would rather watch the future when they are making their names, even if we don't see them in the Elite league in the future!
