British Tv Rights For Sgp & Swc ?

Recommended Posts

You'd think its the end of the world the way some of the people have made out. At the end of the day for some people they wont be able to afford to watch the GPs and its a shame but atleast the GP has got a good deal (one would assume) and we are able to watch GPs for the next three years.

It's not the end of the World, I agree. But it's always better for our sport if its more accessible to more people. I was able to tell the people I work with that Britain was about to get a World Champion recently and to watch on Eurosport, most had Eurosport a few watched and commented on it that week. Put it on a more obscure channel and less of them people will watch next time.

I could easily subscribe again but is 20 pound a month worth it for a couple of good GP's and 10 average/boring ones.

If they have offered good money that is good for GP series and riders get more money then bonus as they deserve it.

Eurosport would have been best option overall as more people have access to it but money talks these days.

Unfortunately this is the way most sport is going.. Plenty of cricket fans were up arms at the ashes series being on Sky. BT sport actually has a very good sport portfolio, I am a big rugby fan too and they cover it very well. On the plus side it has to be good for the sport overall that a big TV player is prepared to throw money at it, they'll not be concerned at who misses out, rather all the extra subscribers they'll get.

I am with Virgin media and BT sport is included as part of my package. So if you can get virgin in your area might be worth exploring that option.

I fully sympathise with those that'll miss out due to cost, but TV and sport have become very good partners of late and more and more sports and events will be going this way.

I know gotta make you laugh, I am happy with the news The TV companies could of just said stuff this and done away with it completely but along comes BT Sport and they have made the high bid and sealed the deal for an extra three years.

BT do a good job with the rugby and motogp so hopefully will be the same with sgp.

Ideally like the rugby and motogp a highlights package would be available on itv4 but assume this is not the case.

As regards viewing you can usually find all the gps, polish matches etc on youtube a couple of days after the events. (Mostly in polish but not always.) Racer & Royals is excellent at pointing these out

Great news on BT bidding the rights everyone else had the opportunity to bid and BT came in and deal done, what makes me laugh is the knobheads on FB saying its really really bad our days of watching Speedway is doomed well boo fkn hoo! Three years signed sealed and delivered so that is Speedway Gp's secure for another three years on the box, so get a job or stop moaning.

what ray of sunshine you are only knob is you

Considering all the moaning about Eurosport when they first started speedway, it's no surprise some people are up in arms now BT have got the GPs.

Whoever televised it someone would moan. I begrudge every penny given to Sky but hubby likes F1 so have to put up with it. Hated Eurosport missing opening heats etc. I will reserve judgement on BT's presentation but they do have decent presenters, we can only hope they keep Scott Nicholls and pair him with one of them. I'm afraid Andy Jaye started to grate on me after a while. Being ignorant of a sport new to the channel is fine for a start but it became very tired after a while. A decent pair of commentators would enhance the product tremendously, Simon Stead and anyone who doesn't shout would do for me.

I understand BT do a few chat type shows, if so let's hope they can get a few riders in to possibly interest newcomers.

Cancelled my complete Sky package a couple of months ago when they wouldn't offer me fibre optic broadband at the same price they would a new customer. Went to BT for phone, broadband and TV saved £20 a month and get BT Sport thrown in so I'm happy. Moto GP coverage is superb and if they offer the same professionalism for SGP then it can only be a good thing.

For first time ever this year I hadn't subscribed to Sky Sports for the Speedway season as I have to watch recordings because of work and quite often was spending the money for 15 minutes viewing a week. In all honesty I've not missed the league all that much but I would certainly miss the GP's

This deal could be a good thing for Speedway fans as I have on good authority that they BT are keen to add some league racing to their schedule as are aware that they need to be able to justify the extra spend for customers.

Whether they will take the easier option to take the Swedish league although that clashes with CL football or go after the Polish league with rights now available in the UK

So anyone who subscribes to Sky (and lets be honest, the majority of folk do including myself) has to shell out another 20 squid a month to watch the GP's and World Cup...and a handful on here see fit to say it's great news! Well Newsflash, it's not!!!

Far less folk have BT Sport than Sky, so more viewers lost is how I see it. Sky's monthly bill (for me) is already at bursting point and I (like a lot of others) won't be shelling out another £20 from April to October. And before anyone says just move to BT instead, why would I or anyone else want to lose hundreds of channels for a pretty minor saving???

No Nigel and Kelvin? Oh no! :o

It's going to cost us £5 month, so we'll add it just before the season starts...I can live with that :t:

One of the more interesting aspects of the GP`s and SWC going to BT sport could be the commentary situation-as we all know Eurosport used the world feed provided by BSI. will BT want to use their own commentary team ?? I believe that Pearson and Tatum had to obtain SKY`S permission to continue the work after SKY`s exit 3 years ago. SKY might not be so happy with them appearing on BT.

Good they can keep them, would far rather have Mr and Mrs Nicholls and possibly Simon Stead if able to do it.
