cyclone
Today's announcement that the BSPA have back tracked and Glasgow can no longer stage the British Championship on a Friday night is a total f******g disgrace. Brought about by an objection from the Edinburgh promotion who did not even have a meeting scheduled for that evening . Really ! According to Edinburgh website:- Fri 20th May Edinburgh v To Be Confirmed League Cup 7.30pm Also from Glasgow website:- Sun 12th June, v TBC League Cup So I suggest you are twisting the facts as you well Know all clubs have dates scheduled for home fixtures where the details of the event are still to be finalised. What would be relevant would be to ascertain:- Who proposed the same date that was already published in the Edinburgh home fixture list ? Can Glasgow hold such an event on another weekday, given that such BSPA events have been frequently held on other weekdays, particularly Thursdays ? stewmac
All those away fans that Ediburgh hope to attract on 20th May maybe.Tongue in cheek surely. If you've been a speedway fan as long as me, then you will know fine well that very few fans can afford to travel far these days for their weekly fix, beyond their home track. Finances dictate otherwise. Edinburgh chucked cash they didn't have. Paying for rider(s) they couldn't afford. Now they have a new board of directors. Like the Murphys though .... They're not bitter. Unlike you.
george.m
Really ! According to Edinburgh website:- Fri 20th May Edinburgh v To Be Confirmed League Cup 7.30pm Of course, the Ediburgh Website is the Oracle! PMSL Don't tell me, tell the BSPA that sanctioned the semi-final originally.
MD
Now they have a new board of directors. The old guard are still there, they'll never change and neither will the culture they have fostered at the Monarchs until they move on. Ah ha, perhaps we're getting to the crux of the matter now. Let's lay the blame on Edinburgh who are legitimately only trying to protect their race night business when in fact, you are now admitting it's the BSPA who should be on the end of all the Tiggers' bitterness. george.m
Let's be honest here guys. All of you Edinburgh fans and promotion are just jealous of Glasgow because you can't get a 'semi'.

Hopefully not, considering they have been the most successful team on track this millennium Still I suppose the paranoid jealousy of Geraldo & Michael Angelo and their band of camp followers need something other than what happened on the track, to have a pop at Scotland's most successful team

speed ace
I made a decision that I would not be bullied/intimidated/encouraged to not go to watch speedway at Armadale. But guess what?? Do two wrong make it right? Wonder how many other genuine SPEEDWAY fans are now thinking similarly. Until Edinburgh reopened at Powderhall in the late seventies, they had always raced on a saturday, so why did they choose a Friday night at that time? They still hold meetings on a Saturday as an alternative. It seems the majority of fans of other teams around the country can see how much potential is being wasted with two top teams bickering, pity the promoters of both teams can't. Gazc
Well this is fun see the usual suspects sticking there head above the parapet from spoon burning land to defend the pettiness from the east. The Glasgow promotion are the kind of people who can drag British speedway into the 21st century, we need more like them. Going on and on about their wealth comes across as incredibly bitter. Edinburgh fan's bitter what makes you think that .
2ndbendbeerhut
So the guys in charge of speedway in the UK (Bspa) have said Glasgow can hold a British Semi final on the Friday. But Edinburgh have said they can't and the Bspa have relented? So who's really in charge then?
mac101
Looking from a business side of this if Glasgow run this event and Edinburgh decided to run their match on the Saturday which is there alternative day you would think the diehard speedway fans would maybe stay up and go to Armadale and make a weekend of it both teams win

The thing is it only says the Edinburgh have objected...............it does not say that objection has been accepted................as a neutral all I can say is that Edinburgh are cutting their nose off to spite their face..............and that some fans need to look at things from all angles instead of from their clubs point of view..................just because the club puts in an objection to something does not mean their fans have to agree with what the club say............ But that is typical of certain fans though................there is always going to be jealousy when a middle order club suddenly becomes as if not more successful than they are.............we get it down here all the time..............I just ignore it now............. SharpenRake
No need for the clever remarks, If I'm mistaken then fair enough. By the way, I have NEVER ever written a post denouncing promoters. There not clever remarks. Anyone with a bit of sense would look up the web to find out before posting. and yes you are mistaken there's no 'if' about it.
