Gazc
Today's announcement that the BSPA have back tracked and Glasgow can no longer stage the British Championship on a Friday night is a total f******g disgrace. Brought about by an objection from the Edinburgh promotion who did not even have a meeting scheduled for that evening. What type of eunuchs run British Speedway when a National championship comes second to one club's wishes? So UK fans come second in Edinburgh's pettiness. No doubt Embra will now piggy back on this and run an individual event with half the field! Embra - after last year's letter at the Play Off final you have lost the moral high ground. In fact, you have just blown yourselves up whilst standing on it. Couldn't make this up the chuckle brothers seem intent on pis*ing on our parade at every turn by the sound of it. Not endearing to the chosen ones at all, what goes around comes around though and i am sure our promotion will have something planned for brothers grim t*t for tat looks set to move to the next level. damosuzuki
Edinburgh are playing with Fire, tbh. The Glasgow promotion are extremely wealthy, hard nosed businessmen who do not like to lose. The kind of people it would be useful to keep onside. What I'm not sure of, if Edinburgh object is their objection automatically accepted? would seem crazy as I'm sure any forward thinking organization would throw this out in a second. Red Panda
I was under the impression that they had objected despite not having a meeting that night but it has not been confirmed whether that objection has been upheld..................either way its no way to run a sport................or is it just a case of sour grapes by the smugs cos they did not get it.............. DSC67
I can't understand why Edinburgh have objected when they don't have a meeting that night , no doubt someone " in the know " will explain all to us mere mortals who once again are being treated like mushrooms
Mr Blobby
Seems the brothers have gone in a huff again. It doesn't actually say anywhere in the statement that you can't ride on the Friday. Just says we've objected to it. The BSPA will more than likely reject it IMO as we have that date down as reserved. On the other hand you could of choose a different day yet you choose a Friday. After what happened previously why pick a day knowing that it might cause a problem.
damosuzuki
Why shouldn't they choose a Friday? I'm sure they picked the Friday because it's the most appropriate night other than the Sunday. They are proffesionals looking to maximise commercial opportunites, and are probably flabbergasted to find a) Edinburgh are even allowed to behave this way That they would choose to do so. And if Monarchs were really EDINBURGH monarchs, they wouldn't even be able to protest.

The Edinburgh promotion need to release this is a national event, that affects fans of many clubs, much more than just Glasgow. The outside world will see this as a petty move. But hey, what do Edinburgh care. As their spokesperson you'll no doubt have an equally quick response to this as you do normally. Even though you're not close to anyone in the promotion! But if it was not the Glasgow management but the BSPA that agreed it could be held on a day when Edinburgh have no meeting they cannot object.......or are you expecting so many rain offs that you will have to use it............. Either way it is not good for the sport when two local teams end up in a feud..............bury the hatchet and play nicely then everyone is happy............. Brummiestormer
No more than i would have expected from Edinburgh---denying even their fans a chance to see a top class field in Scotland--a low move even for them!!

The Mafioso brothers may well be wealthy and hard nosed, but they are small fry compared to the Edinburgh promotional team in terms of experience in this field. Their ridiculous letter to the fans at the end of last season may have been a good idea in their eyes, but as we are seeing now, I have a feeling it will all come back to bite them firmly on the bums. topaz325
Very poor from Edinburgh, no doubt the Moaners promotion will come back with some valid reason (poor excuse) as to why they objected.......

All this could of been avoided by your promotion picking a different night but they choose to keep trying to intimidate with their cash but it's not going to happen. As I said in a previous post I think our objection to the meeting being held will get dismissed anyway. Bagpuss
Really very petty and yet another reason why speedway in this country looks so amateurish. These are now two of the biggest clubs in the PL and need their heads banging together.

There's no mafioso about them, but they are a huge business with all sorts of promotional and organisational efforts going on. All I am saying is, they are big fish who can only increase interest in Glasgow speedway. Armadale could have had some of it, but choose instead to be obstructive.
