Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..

Recommended Posts

This may be normal for planning issues, but there are issues re the amount of parking spaces and movement of vehicles and people at the proposed stadium.

Just tried to read that Orlovski but it says "this document is unavailable for viewing at the moment" -should I be suspicious?

It's still plodding on. Supplementary applications on reserved matters (particularly drainage) were still being submitted as recently as two weeks ago.

Consultation period has closed and reading responses doesn't look problematic. Now it is up to planning officers to assess the application.

Good find, Orlov, and thanks for the heads up.

Personally I'm relieved the only difficulty appears to be parking so far. I was convinced they were going to engineer in all sorts of glitches! How did we get so mistrustful and cynical?!

It was thanks to arnieg for finding the detail planning app docs which shows each stage, where I was looking on the council section for planning apps which does not show as much detail.

One question I have is with the 572 on site parking spaces and 449 at the park and ride is that they will have to lay on quite frequent transport from there to the stadium, about a one or two miles away. It will just be a bit chaotic with traffic turning up at the stadium only to be then told to turn round and go to the park and ride.

haha, some are so gullible.

Both Morris and Doyle have confirmed they were given permission to ride at Lynn. Swindon have said they have 'recalled' riders.. you don't 'recall' someone you never gave permission to ride elsewhere.

Well done Swindon fans though, you've managed to p*** off your riders before the season has even started :)

All for a meaningless meet that 99% of those Swindon fans whinging won't be attending.

What a really odd point of view.

The riders are contracted to Swindon in the Uk and should get their jacksies to Somerset to represent their club.

Swindon should not have let them get in the position in the first place.

First of many situations through another expertly organised British speedway season I'm sure!

What is odd?

Doyle and Morris wanted to ride elsewhere..

Swindon fans who won't even be attending the meeting have stopped them..

Said riders will be p****d off...

You've agreed with me by saying Swindon should not have let the situation arise in the first place.

So would you be ok with it if Wolves riders decided not to turn out for their club because they wanted to ride elsewhere? No problems with that?

It's irrelevant whether or not people will be going. I won't be going to Somerset, but this was clearly unfair to The Rebels and their fans, for whom both Doyle and Morris would be major attractions.

Believe it or not, some people can actually see a situation beyond whether or not it affects them personally.

S*d the riders. If there's a Swindon meeting they should be there.

Too much bending to riders' demands has gone a long way to the sport being in the mess it is.

About time Rosco and other team bosses stopped being pally and actually told them a few home truths!

Again, I've not said anything about that.. all I've said is, net result is, Swindon have two p****d off riders before the season has even started. All of their own doing.

So would you be ok with it if Wolves riders decided not to turn out for their club because they wanted to ride elsewhere? No problems with that?

Nope, it's happened many times in the past in meaningless challenge matches.

An official fixture.. yes.

An inter-league challenge where the other team is tracking a different side anyway.. who cares.

The only point I agree with is Somerset fans who would have the opportunity to see some top riders.. BUT we're told they make for poor racing anyway and that PL is way better, so perhaps would have been better had they not been there :)

Yea it's big blow for the match with Doyle and Morris now riding ....how much better would it have been with pl riders who overtake in every race and shake hands with the crowd etc etc :rofl:

Agreed, this is a major own goal by the Swindon management.

Nick has recently signed a contract with Wroclaw, who are using a squad system, they have pre season training at Saddlebow road leading up to the meeting with the Stars.

Morris and Doyle were both told they could ride.

The sudden change means Morris has now had to tell Wroclaw he can't ride.

It leaves Nick Morris in particular in a very awkward position.

He's gone from having the chance to cement his place in the Wroclaw team, to now being forced into riding in a meeting which although is good practice, compares little to the opportunities the Lynn meeting could have had.

The ramifications are far deeper than at first glance.
