Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..

Recommended Posts

If Swindon are having trouble they should at least update via social media. No way the track can be ready now and at least if the supporters knew they could assist in some way surely (eg by getting a campaign going or whatever). Really hope it isn't the case but this looks like a scam on the developers behalf if there is no information forthcoming.

Is there any news about Oxford's supposed return next season?

Yes they're doing a track share at The New Abbey I heard, now to be called the Troy Batchelor Arena. Saw the girders for the new stadium stored at the Groundwell Park n' Ride when I was visiting the premises of a nearby club programme advertiser, she said three lorries turned up, will be gathering cobwebs then. The club/fans would have been looking forward to starting the new season at their new home with increased crowds, if they start at the old Abbey a lot of peeps wont bother going after paying for the Farewell and will feel they've been conned.

I shall be going as I was astute enough to miss the 'disrespectful' Farewell meeting anyway...

FYI Keef - Interesting article recently in the Adver re Moonrakers, see below..

Not sure about that Moose. Swindon have a sold hard core of fans that will turn up rain, wind or shine. Once the fans start to see the new stadium taking shape, enthusiasm will gain momentum.

At least the Famous Abbey track will be there to start the 2016 season and help to bed in the new team which will no doubt be led by the inspirational Doyle.

Rather than the Troy Batchelor arena, I'd rather the 'Batchelor bogs'. Kind of has a special 'ring' to it, if you get where I'm coming from? ;)

Good article by Mr.Hudson...strange bloke, I spoke to him once when I worked for the Adver, once was enough!

An ever-decreasing hardcore band. Doyley is a great signing but no Darcy Ward. The new stadium would have brought many new and ex-fans in at least initially. The club need to do more PR, especially when fans are prepared to give up their free-time for nought to do leaflet distribution or whatever to bring in new fans. Get involved more in the local community like the football and ice-hockey clubs do.

The bogs are to be renamed the "Lord Loocan Suite" I hear.

There are also tunnels in north Swindon going from Cheney Manor north to the Church in Akers Way, but not sure if these were for hiding smuggled contriband or just the hiding of priests when Cromwell was about. These were found when they built some of the houses in Cheney Manor Road.

Ah yes, but 'its all about the base, no trouble!!'

The new stadium is being built where there is a concrete carpark so they can just chuck a light sprinkling of shale on top of it and end up with a track similar to Wimborne Road
