The shape is superb and for early season that track rode well, a nice flowing gp type of track i.e Polish (well the better ones) cant really understand the whiners sniping about only passing available when riders were drifting....if that's the case so what as long as it gives everyone an opportunity TO pass who cares, beautiful looking circuit

It's hard to believe that it's 4 years since we lost Rico - still miss seeing him ride.

Everytime I hear 'Great balls of fire' it reminds me of Rico winning a race at the Abbey and that tune playing as he did his customary lap of honour, waving at the fans.

Lee was a fine rider, thoroughly professional and a decent bloke. He's sadly missed.

  • 2 weeks later...

Doyley has just had a crash in Poland, very nasty indeed. Leg was strapped as he was put into an ambulance. I'd be surprised if it's not a broken leg!!!! I really hope I'm wrong though.

Update - Twisted left ankle being reported, gone for an X-ray. Hopefully it is just that & no break.

This weeks Blunsdon blog....tyre burning. I can assure readers that the people who worked the Swindon track for years and years with little or no fuss, would'nt have dreamt of deeds as idiotic as burning tyres to dry the track. Imagine the mess. Is it a joke? I take it as an insult to some good ole boys from way back then, still they had the benefit of working with proper Arbury red shale, that stuff you're using aint shale man.

Googled Arbury Shale and came up with the following interesting piece from speedwayplus ....
