van wolfswinkel
As Rosco said last night "We don't bother with all these negative people, stuff 'em, the new stadium will happen".
orion
As Rosco said last night "We don't bother with all these negative people, stuff 'em, the new stadium will happen". Nothing to with being negative ....anyone with a tad of common sense understand that a stadium can't be build in 16 weeks in winter . People who think it can need to go and see there Doctor . MattK
Im not usually a pesimist but got the feeling that Swindon are going to be left red faced with this stadium, just like Reading. Im not local.. But there doesn't seem much positive news about it the new stadium, apart from people involved in the club who seem to be either keeping something from the public about the building of it, or are just papering over the issues and hoping it gets done. Only time will tell..... Plausible denial. By continuing to follow the happy path, the Swindon management can avoid any criticism when the stadium doesn't get built, instead placing all the blame on to the developers. However, if they were to now start bemoaning the lack of progress and calling into question the development, when the stadium doesn't materialise people will point the finger at the speedway management asking why they didn't do more to ensure the stadium got built.
BuzzCagney
It annoys me that Rosco calls people questioning things 'negative'. Its not negative to want to see the Stadium owners come good on their promises and agreement. If Rosco is so bloody confident why doesn't he share the reason why with us? Why has he been singularly unable to settle nerves so far? I suspect the reason is he isn't in the loop one iota. He'd like to give the impression that he is but can't back it up. So, come on Alun, if you are in the know, as you'd like us all to think, when is construction starting?

Well said & how him & Terry can say fans are being negative by asking for information about the new stadium is one hell of a rubbish way to deal with the fans who are only asking out of genuine care for the club.
cityrebel
It was announced at least twice yesterday that the abbey would still run greyhound racing for another five months!. Surely the old place has to be demolished before the new stadium can be built.

Surely the old place has to be demolished before the new stadium can be built. The new stadium is being built on land adjacent to the existing stadium so the claim is they can co-exist. Depending on what plans you look at, the new fourth bend overlaps with the existing first bend.

No way will a stadium be up in time for March or even April! At least the management seem to be a little more realistic now.

And how fortunate, with regard to getting a crowd for the "end of an era" meeting that the article came out the day after everyone had handed over their money to see the last ever meeting at the Abbey, well the last ever one before next year it seems
hyabb17
I don't see what all the fuss is about, start the season at home late May....I recall plenty of blanks Thursday during June, July & August wherefore we'd rushed meeting in at home early when the weather isn't as kind.
Trees
It's about time that the management told the fans what is going on, actually going on ..... glad they have, at last, thought the fans worthy!!

Least it sounds more positive for Swindon.. But again, only time will tell once the work actually starts

The stadium, which up to yesterday, we were guaranteeing being ready for next season, will not now be ready after all. As it drags on then it will not be ready at all for next season before finally the hurdles were too big of a problem and the whole thing is scrapped, of course the Abbey will succumb to the usual mysterious fire in the meantime and have to be demolished and the council agree to houses all over the site
