so aim promoting to the other 5

Exactly. Lets be honest here, anybody in or around the poverty line shouldnt even be contemplating going to sporting events.

Anyway back to Poole. Matt Ford ruins speedway 😉

We know that Starry, my comment was in the context that we are still on topic, Poole wise!

Lets hope it stays that way.

That is as may be but speaking from the experience of sorting out my mother's finances when my father passed away I can assure you my mother and many other elderly people I know do not have that sort of money tucked away.................

Its a popular misconception that the majority of pensioners are well off...........there are some that have loads tucked away.............there are a fair few living in poverty...................there are those who are stuck in the middle fearing that they will have to sell their homes to cover fees if they have to go into care.................and there are those who are plodding along and are managing but do not have the amount of disposable income that people think they have...................

RP

take your last paragraph though and replace 'pensioners' with "under 35s' or '35 to50' or '50 to 65' and broadly the same points apply.

The majority do not haves loads tucked away

A fair few live in poverty.

Those stuck in the middle fear about how than can afford to run their homes and are plodding along.

Im sure that SCB would also point out that at least they have homes to sell to fund care. Many current under 35s wont and also face the prospect of having to make compulsary payments during their working lives to plan to fund those costs.

In those circumstances can a special discount be justified for any one group?

See, cannot help yourself can you its like a magnet to you isn't it.. You wonder round the forum pretending to look at other threads then conviently returning to the poole thread. Go away, you have a premier league team alledgedly.

Yes i pretend to look at other threads, just like the Lakeside, Somerset and Edinburgh threads ive commented on along with the horse racing one but dont you worry yourself about yet again being factually incorrect

  • 1 in 6 pensioners (1.8 million or 16% of pensioners in the UK) live in poverty, defined as 60% of median income after housing costs
  • Pensioners are also the biggest group of people on the brink of poverty with 1.2 million on the edge

More than 1 in 8 Under 25 don't have a job (and that excludes those in education), so boo-hoo to the OAPs who are a bit poor too. Also relative poverty is bullrubbish. What that says is that if 60% of the UK lived on steak, caviar and champagne that anyone living on pork chops, eggs and Prosecco would be living in poverty technically. Real poverty is whne you can't afford heat, food, water and a roof over your head - I don't have stats to hand but I bet an awful lot more under 25 can't afford a roof over their head than OAPs

Don't tell SCB that, he thinks every pensioner is swimming in money. Not that it affects him... Alledgedly..

Of course not all pensioners are. But on average, they're better off than the young. So if OAPs get a discount because some of them are poor, can young adults get a discount because more of them on average are poor?

Just quoted AGE UK official figures. I agree that people of all ages (especially the young) find themselves financially stretched, and the Baltic Dry Index indicates its going to get much worse...

How many OAPs are still funding the 'Under 35's',(and even some 'under 45s'!!) thereby drastically reducing their own disposable income?

I doubt you'll get an answer here sadly, but would be interesting to know how many under 35s or 45s are still living at home on this forum, or being funded like you say.

Well thats their choice but that would be such a small percentage. The bigger percentage would be ones actually working and contributing to the household therefore giving their parents more income.

Very few I would have thought as most OAPs won't be working and they don't pay any NI if you do, and if they pay into a pension while working they get huge tax incentives too.

Surely the most important thing is the amount of disposable income? And old people have more than young people.

Simple - get a life and stop criticising other people................get it into your head that I had not seen the article in question until it was posted on here and I apologised for misreading the post...................I still firmly believe that even though that article was published that Holder would never ride for another UK team...............but that is personal opinion which I am entitled to believe it or not...............if you don't its not my problem..............you are the one with the problem with your constant criticising of anything to do with Poole.............not me.............not any other Poole fan.........you............

RP

I got a life.....

just get your facts right in future , and if you not sure about something dont pretend to know the 'facts ' when you dont - simple really

i also have an opinion , and mine is that your trolling nature support for your team sometimes backfires when your caught out!

I doubt that would happen with the team Coventry have assembled.

that will most likely change -

I thought Skidder was on about their own Sons and Daughters. Might have read it wrong!

At it again I see....so very sad, childlike and immature. You lambast others for name calling and have reported some for far less. I wonder if your idol, Matt Ford, knows that his club is being continually represented on this forum in such poor light by one of his long serving 'volunteers'.

On behalf of some (not all) Poole supporters on this forum, may I take this opportunity to ask you nicely to please stop as your posts are an embarrassment to yourself and Poole Speedway.
