The Ace Of Herts Becomes The Pair Of Aces @ Rye House Saturday October 10th

I'm chuffed that they went with my idea of a pairs meeting, even if it is still a reduced 12 rider format.

Decent looking line up considering what we've had in previous years. The disco in the bar is also a good idea.

Well done Warren and his team

Can't see what all the fuss is about poor lineup in my opinion with 50% of the field National League riders with the prices jacked up to EL level...well done Warren

You've forgot the fireworks and the free disco

Have to admit it's not exciting me. Im not a big lover of the pairs format especially in these kind of meetings where the pairs don't really mean anything. There's likely to be a Rye rider in every pair so I don't really care who wins.

The Raiders have been great to watch this year but I don't really want to see a gp rider half a lap ahead of a kid who has a few months experience, not only from a racing perspective but also for safety reasons. I'd have liked to have seen an end of season meeting for the Raiders or Rockets with (hopefully) the best visiting riders of the season. Someone like MPT is not necessarily a big name but is a bit of a track expert.

Mind you, I think the season ends so early for some teams nowadays that I imagine that lots of riders pack up their equipment before mid October so it's probably difficult to get a full strong line up.

I'm assuming Harris, Watt and Kennett will be paired with Hunter, Hume and Bowtell respectively and the NL boys points will be vital to win in the pairs format so they'll have to team ride.

I also assume that leaves Masters with Priest, Howarth with Hughes and Bowen with Branford.

Making it a pairs meeting with these 12 is smarter than an individual as the top boys would make light work of the NL reserves that way. I'll wait to judge until I've seen what happens at the meeting.

I don't agree that they will have to team ride. If the scoring is 4,3,2,0. You just have 2 races. The top boys fight to win & the junior to beat the other junior.

I accept the pairs may be a better format with this line up but it's not a a format I particularly enjoy.

They will be desperate for none of the invited riders to pull out.

16 rider individual would be my preference but it is what it is I guess. Understand where you're coming from about the two races in one too.

Rider withdrawals is my fear too, something we've not been great with announcing in the past too, it isn't beyond the realms of possibility to turn up and see Sam Woods replacing Harris and Danno Verge instead of Davey Watt, then there will be a problem.

No Chessell?

Seems abit unfair. Would rather see him than George Hunter at this stage, no disrepect to George but he is still very Green.

Im guessing Chessell is out the equation for next year.

It'll be a good experience being up close to riders like Watt and Harris in the pits for Hunter, Hume and Bowtell, though it should be about a big send off for fans at the end of the season too.

I think the Raiders are out of the equation next year sadly, they've been a breath of fresh air this year so I hope I'm wrong however.

Having a 16 man individual and letting Hume, Bowtell and Hunter race off prior to hear one for a spot in the meeting could have worked with the other two becoming meeting reserves.
