It's a pity he's not still involved in the sport in some capacity, he was a great guy new how to build good teams too , might have been a bit of a rogue but so where guys like Mike Parker the sport needs a few more characters.

Not read this but not yet another face from the old days looking in from afar and informing all and sundry what the problems are with current day speedway......who's next on the conveyor belt to roll out .......zzzzz

People who've been there, seen it, done it and no current self interest giving the benefit of their experience ....

... as Einstein said "the only source of knowledge is experience".

That's not exactly what Einstein said...

You haven't said what he did say!

I await to be corrected.

Until then ...

Sorry chaps, but I don't think you'll find any actual sources for Einstein saying that.

Perhaps you are referring to one of these?

"It seems that the human mind has first to construct forms independently before we can find them in things. Kepler’s marvelous achievement is a particularly fine example of the truth that knowledge cannot spring from experience alone but only from the comparison of the inventions of the intellect with observed fact."
Einstein, Albert. Ideas And Opinions (p. 266)
or
"Pure logical thinking cannot yield us any knowledge of the empirical world; all knowledge of reality starts from experience and ends in it."
Einstein, Albert. Ideas And Opinions (p. 271)

One more rogue will make no difference what so ever round speedway would it.

At least my references were actually from Einstein not some random website.

The two sites are incorrect.

Good try!

It was better than that :)

Paulco, I think it would take more than Einstein to sort the sport out.

Mind you, the new Glasgow promotion seem to have come up with a lot of answers this year :approve:

Think you're debating with yourself there mate, the point of my original post wasn't about Einstein.

I'll bow to your superior knowledge about Einstein.

I reckon Speedway's woes would baffle even Einstein.

It's all about relativity.

Speedway's relatively credible, relatively popular, relatively incompetent, relatively broke, relatively able to write a sensible rulebook. If only it were relatively ably to apply it....

Don't worry, it's just my close season madness setting in already :)

I think it also depends on the observer's point of view :)

Jim, you shouldn't worry too much about things you don't understand ;)
