diamond@heart
I hope Morris is not the replacement as it's a massive step back. Gutted Rose is out and I think he is irreplaceable and to compound matters we are gonna have Morris and Phillips who leave us very very weak at reserve. This would not have been such an issue if the management had acted sooner and shown Phillips the door (harsh I know but needed to be done). I can't believe this no option line. As your telling me a young British lad with the chance of winning a bit of silverware would not jump at the chance!!! What happened to Tero, has he not recovered from his knee op and is he not an option?

The reason being put is that we want a 7 man side in case we lose a rider through injury but the reality is that even with this 1-7, if we lose a top 5 rider in a play-off match against a Somerset or a Glasgow we'll be out anyway. I still don't understand it but it's done so I guess we just have to get on with it and hope Ashley can surprise us. The promoters have put a very good side together this year and pulled a rabbit out of the hat with Victor so I hope they have called this one right. Tsunami
Tero I am informed hasn't had his op, hasn't raced since and his average is too high. Like him or not, Morris is the best available as you would have seen against us at the Peterborough home meeting. Good gater and rides Brough well. What assures me that we have done well, is the number of non Newcastle fans who wish him well and sing his praises after he had ride for them. You will soon see if your doubting is right or wrong. Â When getting rid of any rider, you have to try and improve on what you have. He has to be young, 3 point average and prepared to ride ooop North every week. Other teams have tried and failed to do what you are suggesting, but in the eyes of most folks not attached to Newcastle, there is no-one out there that would make an improvement. What we lack here is the name of that rider that was going to good enough for us to sign.
HadrianDog
Can anyone not remember the debacle a couple of years hence when we lost a rider, Rosen?, had Jacob Thorsell lined up, only for him to break his wrist thereby leaving us forced to use R/R because the 'transfer deadline' had expired. The management acted quickly to secure the only viable alternative to R/R, but still are being vilified from some with seemingly short memories.

Tsunami
Just an interesting senario. Â - If Morris hadn't been signed, and we went with RR at say 2, and Victor at 6. Â - First meeting at home or away, Victor is injured sufficient to miss the rest of the season. Â What would YOU do, and how would you judge George's actual decision then.

Not being vilified at all, certainly not by me as I've just pointed out. But people are absolutely entitled to offer an alternative opinion. We did have options here and the promotion have made their decision. I don't think they've made the right decision but that's just my opinion which as a loyal supporter of many years is just as valid as yours.
bringbackHalifax
Just a quick update on Lewis  He had the op yesterday afternoon and has had the right collarbone plated. He has returned home tonight and begins a period of rest with a check up planned in 3 weeks. He passes on his thanks to all who have wished him well and hopes to catch up with everyone soon.

The White Knight
Great to hear that. Wish him well with his recovery. I couldn't agree more. I have watched his performances from afar with great interest. Â I only hope that he can come back and, eventually get himself back to where he was before his accident. Â Get well soon Lewis. Â If's, but's and maybe's Dave. If Victor is injured with the full 1-7 as it is now (or any of the other top 5 riders for that matter), are we really going to be good enough to win anything with R/R and Morris and Phillips at reserve? I suspect we'd get well beaten in any play-off match anyway so I'm not convinced by the thinking that we had to have seven riders. With Victor at reserve and still taking two of his number 2 rides (and Kus one of the others) I think we'd be much stronger and I think that's the only way we could have still emerged with a trophy. Â Anyway its done and hopefully I will have lots of egg on my face come the end of the season - it wouldn't be the first time. I will comment on this any rider(s) can be injured at any time that's part of speedway and I will put it to you what happens if Ashley Morris gets injured then you are in exactly the same boat. I'm a big believer that you should put out your best riders in the position that they will have the maximum advantage to the team. VP at reserve would give that and again imho gives us the best chance of covering LR. Too late now but George will be judged at the end of the season if he was right or wrong and I sincerely hope he was right.
