To The Point
Sorry I seem to have stumbled upon the foreign forum What the Hell is everyone talking about? XD Only very unlikely? So there's still a small chance of it happening? PITMATICS mate

Terrace Grumbler
no it wasn't,,, Well I was almost right...anyhow, Hammer or no Hammer, my point remains...it's great fun picking teams but unless you see the NL riders, you just don't know how good they are/might be around BP. I'm sure that if a change is to be made, it will be done at the right time and in the right way. I can honestly say I enjoyed the Gems' Conference meetings more than I did the PL - what would it cost to run a joint team with Workington, with six home league meetings each? The team that brought you Willie Lawson, Jamie Robertson, Craig and John Branney, Richard Hall, Kris Irvine, Carl Shield, Lango langley, Gary Flint, Phil Bragg, Mike Pickering, Danny Hughes, Ash Johnson, John McPhail, John Morrison and many many good triers. A league spoilt by the trophy hunters. Edited June 15, 2016 by Tsunami

A league spoilt by the trophy hunters. When you say Ash Holloway, do you mean Ashley Johnson? Also you mention Phil Babb. He went on to play for Liverpool! I think you mean Phil Bragg. We (as in Newcastle), did it correctly, bringing on the likes you mention, others were in it for one thing only , as you correctly say and were mostly 'stand alone' teams. A league spoilt by the trophy hunters. Those were some of the best meetings I've watched, the first few took quite a while to run if I remember but the racing was always worth the admission price and to watch the likes of Branney, Lawson and Robertson mature as riders from novices was great. As you say, the league was spoilt by teams hunting trophies rather than nurturing youngsters, probably one of the reasons why British Speedway is in the state it is in.

StevePark
didn't John McPhail play for Sunderland ? There was a footballer called John McPhail who played for Sunderland, yes, but there was also a Gems rider of the same name!

There was only us and Newport played to the spirit of the CL, hence my comment regarding the trophy hunters, who used good reserves and dropped them when they got an average and to then sign the next top up and coming rider. Roynon and Mildenhall for example. It's the same principle with the current Gems. Track time is everything.

Dandelion
PITMATICS mate I'd realized Jesus... It was Roy's nickname for Dan. Q. Is Chris Mills eligible for #7? Not a NL youngster but did a job for us last time. No, he's too old so wouldn't be allowed and his average was like 3.74 or something, Would have loved to see that though!! Maybe he's given up by now though? Edited June 15, 2016 by Dandelion
PaulS
Not sure whether Chris has sold his bikes or whatnot but it seems he's not eligible unfortunately. Q. Why has Danny gone backwards? Pressure of being a weak link? Woman trouble? Me and the Mrs will give him some encouragement when we hump the Witches on Sunday.

Probably pressure, lack of confidence, Brough Park to be fair is a hard track to get your head around and I don't think he's ready yet

Tsunami
NEWCASTLE SPEEDWAY TRAINING GROUP Well pleased with our first training session of the year today. Track was perfect angled to some exciting riding great progress with the first timers. We had 13 riders with many first time youngsters who I am sure enjoyed it and will be back for more. Two big smashes but the fence did it's job, bikes not damaged and both able to pick then themselves up, dusted them down, with a smile on their faces and looking ready to getting out for their next ride. Tough guys. Very pleased with the response from everyone to get everything done in time for the training session. Many thanks, as we couldn't put the session on without that valuable help. So it is now to bike washing and mending the little broken things that happen riding speedway. On hols now, and it's then Cardiff, so the restart of the sessions will be mid July, but I will post details of future sessions when I am back. Great to see youngsters taking to it so easy.
