Newcastle 2016

Recommended Posts

We are losing (or drawing - Redcar!!) matches due to the structure of the team makeup and having too many riders missing with guest or r/r - and when we have full compliment it is a 6 man team straight away with little scope for riders having an off night.

How george got conned into taking Phillips on is beyond me - should it not have been obvious that as Peterborough's no. 8 last year and with his connections to their management that they would have used him if he had any prospects of being an effective reserve??

I'm afraid we will have some more poor nights this season, and then no doubt it will be a poor track, or the ref's fault for a bad decision, or even pulling Phillips back after one of his "lightening" starts !!

Very cheap and local is the only reason I see it

Make more money bringing in someone slightly better and further away because we might actually win something, for example we'd have won at Redcar maybe and gone through!!

The reason Panthers did not consider Danny Phillips for the no7 was because they didn't think he was quite ready to step up to the premier league , Ged Rathbones very words. I don't think for one moment your management was conned into bringing in Danny , it was the choice of the Diamonds management but i'm sure if Diamonds asked if they could use him then you wouldn't blame Ged for letting him get the opportunity would you.

Yeah right. Cheap team with Robert Lambert, probably best young rider in Britain at number 1 and one of the best riders in the PL at number 5. As well as two Swedes. Giver over this is not a cheap team and we should be thankful we have such a competitive side given the crowds we get every week. We've won plenty of trophies over recent seasons and IMO the promotion are doing a bloody decent job on no doubt very limited resources.

Danny is struggling as I'm sure he realises. Certainly no lack of effort on his behalf. If there was an obviously better option I'm sure we'd take it but until that happens we should get behind Danny and give him the encouragement he needs to try and turn it around. Speedway is a tough sport at the best of times let alone when you aren't scoring, travelling hundreds of miles for nowt putting your body on the line. Must be soul destroying. Good luck to Danny - hope he can get a break and a bit of luck and get some points on the board soon.

I did not say cheap team at all, I said Danny Phillips is a cheap option, probably because we splashed the cash so much with the rest of the riders, I did not for one moment mean that we had a cheap team, just that we had to compromise somewhere from bringing in Robert Lambert and the rest, I am very happy with the side put together this year and did not mean for one minute that as a negative comment.

Also, I'm sorry, I wish Danny all the best, but as me and many other paying customers deserve, is competitive racing, and watching races where one rider is trailing so much, is not competitive or entertaining to me, I appreciate all the things he does as well as the effort and risks in speedway, my uncle is a speedway rider and I can't tell you the amount of times he's hurt himself doing it :( But as a paying customer, I would prefer to see four man 'races' SOMEONE has to agree with that because I am not the only one I've seen giving Danny a bad name, and yeah maybe that's wrong of me, but I just want the best out of my Sunday nights and any away days I travel to. Because that's when SOME (Not me) customers start losing interest.

Don't think Newcastle will challenge for the title from what I saw yesterday, but they are a definite for the play offs

That's my point exactly, Peterborough who know him better than anyone didn't see him ready for Premier League

Sorry, conned was wrong choice of words, again the point I was making was that for some reason George did decide he was suitable for a reserve slot, so what was that based on - was he recommended ( if so were we fooled/conned/misled) or was it our own judgement call in which case it was very poor. He seems a nice lad who is keen to progress, but to be honest he is out of his depth at present and you fear that this experience now may be doing more harm than good.

If Edinburgh ever did switch away from Bewley then he looks like someone who is relishing opportunity and progressing, but I think Edinburgh have more sense than to get rid now you can see the potential there.

Can't find the original post I found on Twitter but found this on Leicester's website. Good move for Ludvig as I believe he wanted to get back in the Elite.
