diamond@heart
Interesting to read that our track finished 3rd considering how much of a bad rep it has with fans. http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.29930

ch958
as a smoggy the things ive always disliked are what seem like the low viewing points and to get higher at the back of the stand you feel miles away! It was probably the same at CP but it felt higher that and the regular tonkings we used to get as a smoggy the things ive always disliked are what seem like the low viewing points and to get higher at the back of the stand you feel miles away! To The Point
Interesting to read that our track finished 3rd considering how much of a bad rep it has with fans. http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.29930 I have never had a problem with Broughs track, it is prepared for home advantage, that is a good thing. It is up to visiting teams like my own to adapt to that track, it is something I wish they would learn up here in Berwick. When Waity had Berwick the track had a fear factor for visiting teams. Chewbacca
Edinburgh and Newcastle? What happened to those 'wonder tracks' Scunthorpe and Somerset? I was under the impression they were perfect.
The White Knight
Very pleased to see this. Some of the regular critics of Brough Park will now have to eat their words. :approve:
Najjer
Edinburgh and Newcastle? What happened to those 'wonder tracks' Scunthorpe and Somerset? I was under the impression they were perfect. Abit of a joke, the majority of the racing at Somerset this year was out of this world and much improved again on previous seasons.

Chewbacca
I have visited both and know they are excellent racetracks. It would just be nice for people to acknowledge that, given the difficulties of the enforced shape, Newcastle is an excellently prepared track and only riders who lack throttle control skills think it is terrible. Anyone who thinks you can't race on it should watch Ludvig Lindgren take to the outside line week in week out.
dantodan
Yeah on my travels. I have often came away from a track thinking I wouldn't want to watch speedway there every week. I have been a regular at Brough since 1961 and the track is so much better now. Yes it is still tight, as it has to fit inside the dog track but the surface is pretty good, if not excellent. There is more than one line on both bends, the inside on turn 4 creates many close finishes as does the outside at turn 4. Who could not enjoy watching the first lap on turn two every week! We watch good visiting riders utilising the whole track and yes sometimes our riders get beaten due to the fairness of the track. I would say to the people who slag Brough off come every week and witness great racing, you won't be disappointed. Ivan Mauger, Ole Olsen, Anders Michanek and Nicki Pedersen all rode for the diamonds and they all went on to win world finals. The track is a bit different but it isn't hard to ride, dangerous or rough. If you think it is then I wonder how much you really know about speedway. I am well pleased Brough finished 3rd. Merry Christmas everybody
