Newcastle 2016

Recommended Posts

I can't see us dropping Kus considering we spent a lot of money, t8ime and effort getting him over the winter. Seems madness to cast him aside. I have no axe to grind against Danny and I think he started the season in the challenges really well but he seems to have dropped off dramatically since then. I think he needs to score well in the match against Redcar tonight from a confidence point of view as well as a pleasing the supporter point of view. He seems to have lost the early confidence he had with regards our track and does not attack the bends as much as he used to. I hope he finds his confidence again and starts getting amongst the opposition as well as the points.

I see Tero has tweeted he has come through his surgery and starts his recovery now. Will we have a space for him when he returns to fitness as Palovaara seems to be doing a great job, better than I expected.

I agree with what a lot of people are saying in that it is annoying when you do not know if you are going to watch a full compliment of Diamonds riders or a team full of guests. I know we were made aware of this early on (or were aware of it) but that does not stop if from becoming both annoying and irritating. I personally want to watch Lambert, Rose, Worrall et al tear into the opposition week after week but it would appear that this is unlikely. I just hope that come the business end of the season and assuming we qualify for the play-offs (touch wood) we can go into those meeting with a full compliments of Diamonds riders.

Don't think we should get rid of Kus, he's been pretty decent at home, and maybe will take a few meetings to settle into the team, I expect him to be pretty good at Redcar tonight though, for example, I think the fact that Kus is scoring how he is with Lindgren, Worrall and Lambert and you could argue Palovaara and Rose scoring big and backing him up, it's not a massive deal. The problem I see is the races with Danny in, where you're saying that his partner has to go out and win the race to avoid it being an advantage to the other team, at least with someone like Greenwood (Or any other suggestions???) you might argue he could beat the likes of Danny Ayres without question or the majority of the other number 7s in the league, THAT could be the difference in a double leg face off in the play offs (Assuming we make it there) which should be the aim for every team in the league

I think tonight just back this up for me

Kus has been dreadful away from home but the one thing you can say is he is trying

He at least looks very disappointed and frustrated and he is clearly keen to ride for us

as for danny - he started very brightly but May has been a shocker and he is no longer gating

poor lad is way off the pace and looks as though he is struggling with confidence

alas he looks the weakest no 7 in the league .... but im not sure what our options are

Hasn't anyone noticed that each Sunday when we couldn't have a meeting the sun has been shining and the track would've been dry! How much do you bet it will rain when we eventually stage the next home meeting. The promoters will have lost a few quid due to cancelled meetings and I hope they can weather the situation

I never expected more from Matej Kus he wins a race and next time is last Do I hear "Gating Tart" He was like that last season and I was amazed that Newcastle were so determined to sign him

Danny is learning the trade, we have glimpsed what he can do but he should drop down to the National League and come back to the Premier League next year. It did Steve Worrall no harm and Danny should look at Steve for inspiration

Viktor's signing surprised me but the Swede is picking up points and on current form we should stick with him when Tero is fit again

I hope Wm Hill has sorted out the work on Brough Park and we will not miss anymore home fixtures

Looking at the long range weather forecast, the weather looks kinda crappy towards the end of the week and the weekend :( TYPICAL!!

I kinda agree with you with Matej Kus but also I do not think he is doing terribly, he's just not what people are expecting him to be, which is a 7.13 rider. I'd say an average of about 6-6.5 is better suited for him, scoring double figures some nights and hardly anything the next... Although I want to see him stay :)

I agree with what you are saying about Danny Phillips and I'm still sticking with Dan Greenwood if at all possible!! How well would Ryan Burton do in the PL? Probably not much better than Danny is my guess but he seems to stick around for a lot of 2nd halves and he looks quick when I watch him from the stands (Just a silly suggestion)

I think Palovaara is doing great in the team!! Maybe Palovaara could go to 4 an Lindgren to 3 if current form continues to take less pressure off Kus, with him a 2 he'd be flying!! And we'd have a strong heat 8 again, Kus and Lambert or Worrall (depends on how the team will be set up with Worrall and Lambert having the same average) would be a great way to start off every meeting IMO

I hope so too, but I think the weather may have something to say about that :(

I'd like to see

1. Steve Worrall

2. Matej Kus - To take pressure off him

3. Ludvig Lindgren

4. Victor Palovaara

5. Robert Lambert

6. Lewis Rose

7. Dan Greenwood

HEAT 1 - Steve and Kus

HEAT 2 - Rose and Greenwood

HEAT 3 - Lindgren and Palovaara

HEAT 4 - Lambert and Greenwood

HEAT 5 - Lindgren and Palovaara

HEAT 6 - Steve and Kus

HEAT 7 - Lambert and Rose (Great partnership)

HEAT 8 - Kus and Greenwood

HEAT 9 - Lindgren and Palovaara

HEAT 10 - Steve and Kus

HEAT 11 - Lambert and Rose (Again)

HEAT 12 - Lindgren and Greenwood

HEAT 13 - Steve and Lmabert

HEAT 14 - Palovaara and Rose

I don't see a weak heat all night!! :)

If we want to be serious contenders we need to replace Phillips, hes just not ready And hardly ever beats a fellow number 7 let alone anyone else in a 4 man race....

I find it hard to believe the lad has already not been replaced. The lad unfortunately is not Premier League standard currently and surely any confidence he had is now shot. Even 2 or 3 points can be the difference between 1, 2 or even 3 points. It's a shame but it can't continue week after week. Decent performnce by the other riders tonight although seems to be a bit of swing the last few meeting as pre Edinburgh we were actually stronger in the last 5 heats wheras we seem to be losing points in the last few meetings during the same heats - missing riders doesn't help mind.

DAN GREENWOOD!!! Or Tom Stokes, since he riders for King's Lynn, will get used to our track quicker, any of them is surely better, no offence to Phillips, he's nowhere near ready
