Newcastle 2016

Track Work at Brough

Weather looking OK for Sunday with no rain and 7 degrees, phew. Starting at 10.00am this Sunday and concentrating on getting the sheets back around the fence, along with the stones/weights.

Should be a shorter shift this week especially if enough extra staff turn up. Still need warm clothing, and plenty of biccies, warm pies and hot drinks to keep you warm.

See you there

Another good turn out this week and many things achieved. Thanks to everyone.

Next week, it is understood that Jonny will be cutting and preparing the track after all the rain, some which is still lying on the 4 bends and the back straight. We intend to start at 10.30am to finish off the sheeting and complete the repairs to the office floor.

TRACK STAFF MEETING

At 2.00pm there is to be a staff meeting for old and new track staff to agree plans for 2016. It is important that everyone attends. If you want to join the band of workers, or can bring someone else along with you to increase the numbers, please do, as we are several short from last year. With a combination of sheeting, red flag, grading, start and pits gate duties, you get free admission to the meeting, a programme and can bring a guest in. It is urgent that we get additional helpers for this season, so if you can help please come along at 2.00pm or earlier.

I wonder how many meetings Lambert will miss with clashes between PL and EL .

Current possible clashes, dependant on start times:

Thursday 31 March: Redcar v Newcastle (Tyne Tees Trophy) & King's Lynn v Belle Vue (EL)

Monday 02 May: Scunthorpe v Newcastle (PL KOC 3pm) & Belle Vue v King's Lynn (EL 1pm)

Monday 30 May: Newcastle v Glasgow (PL) & Wolverhampton v King's Lynn (EL)

Monday 29 Aug: Scunthorpe v Newcastle (PL 3pm) & Wolverhampton v King's Lynn (EL 7:30pm)

Robert Lambert will also be unavailable on:

Thursday 14th April: Redcar V Newcastle (PT) & British Under-21 Final at Sheffield (Individual).

I only noticed this the other day when the line-up was announced for the Under-21 meeting.

Danny Phillips could miss the League Cup meeting at Redcar if he qualifies, too.

Re Robert Lambert: A top rider will be in demand and so will miss a few of our matches. If you don't want this situation then you ignore the top guy and go for a lesser talent who may just appear more often for you. But hey!! I want to watch the top talent, Robert Lambert and not some lesser guy riding for us. Young Robert is a great signing. I cannot think of a better rider for The Diamonds number 1 slot.

Robert on a past visit to Brough Park did what so few other riders have done. He/they attacked the bends with loads of throttle control, going in hard which unsettles the guy in front and is great to watch. I am really looking forward to March when it all kicks off. Robert has the potential to hit the top in the sport and Newcastle can play a part in his development :t:

Will this not also mean Steve Worrall is missing??
