Sheffield 2016

Recommended Posts

I hope the prices drop if 30% of the riders I am going to watch with be of a lower standard to this year

this cold be the final nail in the coffin for me with regards to speedway

My thinking exactly, Speedway needs a more radical overhaul for it to grow ! minor alterations and weakening of the product is just going to kill it off.

Have to agree for me rather enforcing clubs to go with young British riders why not make it viable option to use one.

Have British Junior starting average to all new young British riders of say 2.5 points.

Encouragement rather than Enforcement will always be a better option.

Already back in Oz

Im sure the below tells me differently !!

Tigers will host their end of season party at Hillsborough’s 1867 suite on Friday (7.30) with a big turnout expected to wrap up an eventful year. Sissis will be there before going home to Australia

Im sure even if they go with draft riders and a reduced points limit Arthur is worth a gamble

Just back from the Presentation night.

Fans rider of the year Josh Bates.

Promoter's rider of the year, Josh Bates and Jason Garrity.

Other news to come out.

Ash Birks is to take a year out of riding speedway at least, but has accepted a role with the club to assist with Promoting the club in the Community.

But the biggest news coming out is that the club are in very forward negotiations to re- opening the Sheffield training track with the view to bringing on their own local British junior riders with a long term view to re- introducing to team to ride in the National League alongside the Senior team, and the training track will be managed by Ash Birks and other senior Sheffield riders will help out when commitments allow.

All exciting news, and shows that the club are investing in young British riders.

I don't think there was ever any doubt that Josh was going to sign for 2016 but great to have it confirmed.

The best bit of news was the rebuilding of the training track at Owlerton, without doubt Sheffield's most successful years were through the production of riders from the training track and we haven't had the same success since it was closed and great to hear Ashley Birks will be running training schools as well as other ambassadorial responsibilities with the club while he has a season out from riding.

As always Josh and Jason's interviews were brilliant and a good night and looking forward to 2016.

I was very impressed with what Ashley had to say, I thought he spoke with passion and drive and pure common sense and I cannot think of anyone better to take on the role as Ambassador for the club.

Agree, I couldn't think of a better person for the role.

Great news about Josh and the training track. It shows the promoters have loads of ambition for the club. Imo if the promoters get their way and sign the riders that they want. Then with a bit of luck we could be in for a great 2016 season. Up the tigers.
