Pirates Of Poole
Ellis is 3.00 - 4.89 is his 2014 Premier League average.
mdmc82
Not sure id want Ellis on a 4.89 average! I thought he was a 3pt average. What's Sarjeant and Bates averages then?
Woz01
Ellis is 3.00 - 4.89 is his 2014 Premier League average. But it says his average will be higher than Newman. Must be a mistake. I thought he was a 3pt average. What's Sarjeant and Bates averages then? Its says on the Poole website he will have a higher average than Newman at 4.89 but it cant be right. It does make a big point about it on the statement so who knows.
Cupidstunt
So Poole have Newman (one of the best last year) and Ellis whilst we have Sarjeant and Bates who were near Ellis on the draft. Can see us having a lot of 5-1s against us. Expecting a huge top 5 to make up for such a lower end why all the negativity about your reserves, Sarj has proven he scores well last year in the EL and he has made giant steps in his career and has a 5 point average in his first year in the PL riding for Glasgow, Bates has been riding in a professional league for 2 years i believe, and he has won the British U21 and U19 championships in the last 2 years, he has also got knocking up a 6 average in the PL, Bates is 19 and Sarj is 21 and unlike other riders in the draft who are in their late 20's like Blackbird who has retired and started up again after 3 months of retirement i think Coventry have got a better deal than lakeside for instance as both Sarj and Bates are on their way up in their careers unlike many in the draft ( Mear, blackbird, boxhall, roynon) both Sarj and Bates may not be everyones cup of tea but you can't argue on their potential, just my opinion on the matter and I'm sure others will disagree,

It looks like only Lakeside will be weaker, leaving us vulnerable in every match, and certainly leaving those of us that like to watch the team away from home facing some real hammerings.

So much negativity on here already and only 2 reserves signed so far. I've already resigned myself to the thought that Pirates will be champions again next season as it's a foregone conclusion really. Depressing but there it is ~ might as well just enjoy our last year. But again BV they have Stef who is the same level as both our reserves, Leicester have Starke, Poole have Ellis. We're going to be 4-2'd and 5-1'd by them teams! Then when we ride against Swindon they'll just used Charles Wright in one of the #7s rides to get an extra point. You HAVE to have a good reserve. If you can't do that you need a very good top end and we're not going to get one of them either!

Woz01
I do think Sarjeant and Bates will improve as the season goes on. Might be too late by then though.

They're both decent rider who will no doubt go on to be very good riders. But what use is that to a club that doesn't have a home in 2017? We need riders for the here and now! KevH
It looks like only Lakeside will be weaker, Lakeside have announced three signings so far and Coventry only two. How can you possibly judge the strength of teams when only around 30% of the riders are known?

Woz01
Who has got Barker and why did we not protect him ? I don't think he was part of the draft looking at the pairings so far. Edited November 4, 2015 by woz01

Bees_Man
Always thought that would be the case when Garrity moved up. He single handily got us into the playoffs, however this season its going to be more down to the top five and I'm not convinced we'll be signing the right type of riders to win enough races.
mdmc82
Lakeside have announced three signings so far and Coventry only two. How can you possibly judge the strength of teams when only around 30% of the riders are known?Because the reserves play a huge part in a team. We have two tier 2 riders. Sarjeant does have potential but as a 2nd rider like Bates, Ellis or Starke. Definetely not with the pressure of being the main reserve against the likes of Newman, Auty, Howarth or Worrall. He had a really bad second half of the season where he struggled at times to beat most 2nd tier riders and spent a lot of time off 15m. Think of the reserves announced so far we definetely have the weakest as we have no real first reserve. Should have picked Bates or Sarjeant, not both. Also there is the question of how many meetings Bates will miss due to PL and will we again struggle finding replacements. Pairings so Far: Auty & Starke (Leicester) Newman & Ellis (Poole) Blackbird & Mears (Lakeside) Howarth & Clegg (Wolves) Worrall (Belle Vue) Wright (Swindon) I would imagine Rose & Kerr will be at Kings Lynn I think with the exception of maybe Lakeside, we will really struggle against the others Edited November 4, 2015 by mdmc82
stevebrum
Because the reserves play a huge part in a team. We have two tier 2 riders. Where is the list that confirms that? Are far as I'm aware it hasn't been published?
Woz01
Where is the list that confirms that? Are far as I'm aware it hasn't been published? Sarjeant was a tier 1 rider as the Bees twitter feed confirmed yesterday.
Bees_Man
Surely the weakest one. For me sarge fell away terribly st the end of the season. Massive risk for me. Hoping the top 5 will surprise us all but I'm guessing more of the usual in King, summers and JK.
