Neil you and your fellow promoters have turned a once great sport into a circus I have been a fan at Coventry for 56 years I'm sorry but you will not be getting my pension next season.

It's got nothing to do with Jason it's the promoters that have made the fast track system a mockery

That is rubbish the draft was to help the up and coming youngsters not the likes of Howarth/Barker etc both those ribers have been in the England squad

Howarth rode for the under 21s last year! He is still young plenty of draft riders much older than him. Edited by woz01

So much negativity already. If Jason Garrity is in fact signed in the top 5 of the team, is anyone on here actually saying he is not good enough because I for one think he most certainly is!

Congrats on completely missing the point. Nobody has mentioned Garrity as everyone knew he wasn't in the draft.

People are more concerned that we, apparently, overlooked an experienced club asset and signed a vulnerable looking reserve pairing.

Our pairing is in the original spirit of the draft, but that won't help us when we're anchored to 7th, just above Lakeside.

how old is Howard not under 21 I'm sure the point is the principle of the draft in the first place

He is 21 but 22 when the season starts. He will be younger than Worrall, Auty, Starke, Blackbird, Mear, Wright, Kerr, Rose, Sarjeant and thats just of the top of my head.

Edit to add Newman too.

howarth is 21, which makes him younger than the majoirty of last year's FTR

add Newman to that list and maybe a second Worrall

so you don't think young promising brits should be allowed in the draft?

So why wasn't he in the draft when it began I know because they only got paid a small amount of polnts money I expect that's been changed as well .As I said in a previous post it's a circus

The fact he wasn't in the original draft is because he had average more than 3 in the EL the season before. in reality, the BSPA could have and probably should have included him in the draft then. I see no problem with allowing the current British Under 21 Champion into a draft to bring on young Brits! It would be mad to not help him but to pander to and include lesser riders who stand no chance what so ever of ever making it!

if they are changing the heat formula, then draft riders will score far fewer points, so increasing the points money makes perfect sense surely?

Nail on head.

Howarth will still be a reserve even if Wolves signed a rider on an average less than Howarth, well until 4 meetings anyway.

I understand that. My question was in relation to what averages would be used for team building purposes, as Neil Watson rightly commented that Kyle has a current EL average?

Surely no club will be able to use a mixture of EL and PL averages for the 2 reserve positions? Otherwise why would Neil Watson bother to post about Howarth's EL average?

Howarth is the only one to have an established EL average from last season. All the others would need some conversion so they decided to do it from PL averages. Whether thats right from wrong is another debate. If you have an EL average from last season it must surely be used.

By your own admission you only attended two matches this season so as an ex-fan perhaps you'd list out your grievances? Plenty of promoters on here and who knows they may take notice. Personally I think we're pretty lucky at Coventry as Mick and Neil do change things when they can.

We're not going to be riding against Poole every week though are we? So much negativity on here already and only 2 reserves signed so far. I've already resigned myself to the thought that Pirates will be champions again next season as it's a foregone conclusion really. Depressing but there it is ~ might as well just enjoy our last year.

So Poole have Newman (one of the best last year) and Ellis whilst we have Sarjeant and Bates who were near Ellis on the draft.

Can see us having a lot of 5-1s against us.

Expecting a huge top 5 to make up for such a lower end

Not sure id want Ellis on a 4.89 average!
