Wolfsbane
Sounds like Rugby Council trying to be all things to all men. Want the housing but don't want to upset the voters. Still, it's good news in the short term, someone just needs to get the ar$es in gear and secure the long term future, they won't keep delaying ad infinitum one suspects. I think we are lucky that the head of the council is a long time Bees fan.

TesarRacing
Surely better people moan than say nothing and just stop going like 1000s more have done? Agreed, it's the ones that moan and don't go either that get me! Guessing Haters will still hate Horton and Co. But he's done a lot more in getting your clubs future sorted than he did for us! So credit to him for that anyway Too true!

So credit to him for that anyway He is certainly doing more than Sandhu who appears to have sold the Bees (literally) down the river. Good news for the Bees.

SCB
Guessing Haters will still hate Horton and Co. But he's done a lot more in getting your clubs future sorted than he did for us! So credit to him for that anyway Yes quite surprising really, it shows he does actually care about the sport and willing to work hard for the cause. Most at the showground will still hate him no doubt especially as he seems to be working so hard for what used to be a rival club and didnt seem to when he was at Peterborough. For all Mick Hortons faults I think he means well, tries hard and tries to do the right thing. But his execution of ideas and plans is a little "off". Peterborough was a disaster that he shouldn't have got involved in, it required too much work and effort and he did that out of passion rather than any business brains. He ultimately kept the club going for a year and it cost him a fortune just as it did the last time he was promoter there. Sounds like Rugby Council trying to be all things to all men. You don't need housing on a speedway track, you can put houses elsewhere. Rather than looking for land for a speedway track and and building a new track/staidum and houses not just look for land for housing, leave the speedway alone and build the houses where ever it is they're looking at building a track. Much more efficient surely? Might not be so great for the developers because Binley Woods/Brandon is prime residential area but thats not the councils problems. Agreed, it's the ones that moan and don't go either that get me! Where as I think we should listen to them. The people who go and don't moan will go whatever. The people who go and moan will probably still go whatever. The people who moan and don't go, fix their moans and they might just attend! Mick did actually save Peterborough at the beginning of 2014. Yes, he ended up in a mess because he was trying to run teams in all three leagues with a ridiculous Tuesday race night at Peterborough, but had he not stepped in, the club would no longer exist.
False dawn
Well I said I wasn't giving up.... But now is not the time to relax. Sure, we'll be watching speedway at Brandon next March. But that is a short term stay of execution. I read with interest the idea that whereever we get permission to build a new stadium, they should build the houses and leave Brandon alone. Simplistic? Maybe, but it is clear that Rugby Borough Council are keen see to see speedway continue at the existing site. The current owners are sitting on a very large investment in the site and are surely open to a better solution than having their capital tied up with the planning authorities for even a year, let alone three. Woz01
Horton is taking over the running of the stadium. "The key element is that we are now the sitting tenants, so there's a lot of decisions to be made and lots of planning to do. Everything goes through us and we want it to work for everyone". Also talks about getting a fans forum going and ask for ideas plus trying to get more events at the stadium. Sir Jasper
Interesting that he is in control of the lease now. I hope the Stock Cars will still be here as its pretty clear Brandon is somewhat a spiritual home for that sport.
