mdmc82
The problem is Leicester struggled to get riders so where are we meant to get them from?
Daniel Smith
Sorry to say it, but that is a total defeatist attitude, If thats how you and many other Coventry fans feel then you will go to the wall. Again you all need to make your feelings known to your promotion. Even a club share is better than no speedway at all, and no matter who that is with, you'l still have speedway. Coventry are going to the wall, not the fault of the fans. They're being delivered a poor product and the best way to show unhappiness is to not pay for it. If you keep paying and make your feeling known to the promotion they won't care because you keep coming back. Everyone was warned when Horton took over and I believe it was part of the Sandhu's grand plan to drive the club to the wall. Easier for planning then, especially when he said Horton was the most fit for purpose to take over. Assume the other potential owners at the time were drug dealer's or something if that was the best option.
heathen chemistry
every EL club is struggling to find the riders , we all know how the EL just isnt on the riders priority list anymore shared number ones was mentioned by the muppet show the other nite i dont think that is the answer where are all these number ones gonnna come from ? 8 clubs = 16 number ones, --- leicester carnt even get one number one what the riders will do if they bring that rule in is just put there asking price so high no-one will afford them Edited May 5, 2016 by heathen chemistry

Thats why i say a club share would benifit them. I know, and every Coventry fan will know, its not ideal, but they would still have speedway. Then perhaps maybe, just maybe if the promotion are really interested in saving the club they have time to do something. But to me, in the short term a club share has to be favorite. I know many fans have said we have been through that, but unless you carry on they will just drift away. At some point, your promotion will have to make statements. Three heats against Swindon, then they hid away never to be seen again. Havy was the only one who was there. waiheke1
i dont consider him to be a 7.5 rider anymore, He's a 6pt rider as a hl and probably a 8-9pt rider as 2nd string so I'd say 7.5 is about right given at bees he would likely spend relatively even amounts of time in each position. Calm down. I wasn't talking about comparisons with an 8 point rider. I was simply making a point that MPT is one of those riders who is enjoyable to watch and reliable in the sense that you know he will always give his all. Every team needs 4/5 point riders and I would always choose one who always gives his best. I wasn't suggesting he is the answer to Coventry's problem just making a general comment in relation to the posts above mine. I'm not sure teams need 4-5 pt riders in this format. They need riders who can score that as a hl, but post7-8 as a 2nd string. Only the very weakest riders average under 5 in the current El. Shale Searcher
By staying away, you're making it easier for the place to close, without looking for a new site, showing it has lack of support is not the way to go.... It's better to protest when you are there (Brandon) in numbers, passion in numbers (big numbers) is the way forward.... For instance, how about every home supporter in the stadium turns their backs on a race or two... Stuff like that, petitions, banners etc. By just not going, you make it so much easier for the place to be closed, or promoters to not invest in replacement riders, extra shale, not paint the kerb, shoddy track prep, you are playing right into the developers hands etc......

A protest against the promoters is melodramatic. We're riding poorly, but with a team that Darcy Ward and other speedway star 'experts' said would make the Playoffs. A protest against the stadium owners (whoever they are?) who are letting the place fall down around our ears would be more appropriate. The Bees have had bad teams before, under all of their promoters and in many instances those former promoters also failed to address team issues that resulted in poor seasons on the track. A lot of our fans actually delight in the team performing poorly, so they have a ready made excuse not to go and they can save another few quid to line their coffins with. RobMcCaffery
Exactly why I won't be attending anymore unless a change is made. If you wait long enough there won't be a Coventry Speedway to protest about and then you can take pride in having 'shown them'. Of course you'll have missed every last chance to see a great speedway, even if there are problems with the team. Supporters at tracks like Newport, Oxford and say Wimbledon, Hackney or even Bradford 'really showed' the promotions by staying away didn't they? I lost my track 43 years ago but if by some miracle it returned tomorrow I would love every meeting, win or lose. You really don't know what you have until it's gone. I think your signature needs correcting by the way. Edited May 5, 2016 by rmc
Woz01
Exactly why I won't be attending anymore unless a change is made.To be honest you've said this several times in the last few years. Its an absolute myth that Horton doesn't make changes. Last year Kylmakorpi the year before MJJ and in 2013 he did too although the choice was very poor. The problem is getting riders to come over. Poole wouldn't have touched Bjarne in the last few years but he ended up one of the best available. Edited May 5, 2016 by woz01
ColinMills
without bringing footy into this, look at aston villa crowds? of course fans will stay away. its not rocket science the starting line up couldn't compete, yet Horton is filmed on you tube practice day, trying to hoodwink his public, by saying Coventry are the best team behind poole and belle vue! the bloke is an idiot

Only the very weakest riders average under 5 in the current El. It would appear that teams do need 4/5 point riders. Not counting reserves there were 14 riders with averages of less than 6 points in EL team starting line ups this year. 7 of those riders had averages below 5. Fans staying away from Coventry will not achieve anything to help the club survive but it could play into the hands of the present stadium owners. What fans need to do is show the the local councils and media that there is significant support for the club to continue either in a new stadium or the existing stadium if planning permission for housing is refused. SpeedwayTShirts
From the Official Coventry Bees Website Change On The Cards - http://www.coventrybees.co/news.php?extend.1943 This Monday sees an entertainment extravaganza for the Coventry Buildbase Bees as the good news just keeps coming and coming, arriving like buses one after each other. Firstly Popular Ex Bee Martin Smolinski makes a surprise return to Brandon to strengthen the Bees in a final push in this our swan song season. Bees Promoter Mick Horton said "Smoli had been in our plans for this season from the offset and now seems the right time to make changes, the fans are demanding it and we are listening and making the necessary alterations". Monday see's the introduction of our new Co Team Manager in the shape of ex Bees No.1 Tommy Knudsen. Tommy has heard about the Bees start to the season and knowing its our final year here he is joining the management team immediately. To have a bit of Danish flair back at our prestigious club after so many of our Nordic brothers have donned the fighting Bee over the years seems a fitting finale. Another popular returnee is Centre Green Presenter Chris Simpson who arrives hand in hand with brother Richard with all the jingles, fanfares etc which used to make the hive such a buzzing place to be. Again, fans have been asking for this for over 12 months and we're in the entertainment business so entertain we shall. You want more? After all remaining meetings in 2016 all of our riders will be in the understand bar for a meet and greet, photo opportunities and a disco till midnight. And the cherry on top......... as this is our first home Sky Meeting of the season, the gates are open to all, free of charge. Many fans have been lost along the way but in this the final season at Coventry Stadium it's time to give a little something back and we'd love to show the world how important speedway is to the people of Coventry and how important Coventry is to the world of speedway. This may be our final season at Brandon and mistakes may have been made along the way, but it's time to unite, re-ignite those old memories, dig out your old yellow and black scarves, air horns and whistles and turn this season around to make more fantastic memories our future can build upon. And then I woke up and it had all been a magical dream............... Edited May 6, 2016 by Chris BART Simpson
