Peterborough V Sheffield Plpo Quarter Final 2nd Leg

Recommended Posts

For club going into the meeting with a 2 point advantage going into the 2nd leg at home, you Peterborough lot don't half sound worried about this meeting.

Our last 4 home matches we've won 2 and lost 2 (albeit losing against decent opposition and not a ragbag outfit) so we need to keep everyone on their toes really to avoid any complacency or slip up.

Yeah and who knows if Jason Garrity is missing we might have a hot shot Guest waiting to take his place.

You lot really are worried aren't you and with you lot having the worse home record up to the run up to Play Off's I can see why you are say a little.

Cautious. :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Given the size of the place, even though much reduced these days, it still shouldn't be too difficult, but organisation, cooperation and communication at the EoES aren't strong points these days. There are occasional exceptions of course but when you've been to speedway at the EoE Show, Expo Steam, with the Motorhome Show and the Bible bashers both in town etc, you'll appreciate what a widdle in the ocean a few doggies is. That's not a go at you but a reflection of how far speedway has fallen down the pecking order over the last decade or so.

Scouts were the worst.

Little sods running all over the place and not at all interested in the racing. :P

I can appreciate why you keep telling yourself that. When in reality your best chances are Bob Hope and No Hope, you need to keep your pecker up ;)

I can assure Sheffield fans and management that the stories of wagon trains still being attacked by Red Indians on the way to to the Showground are greatly exaggerated so it is likely that you will get there unhindered. Neither are there armed guards at the pit gates.

PAINT THE TOWN RED (AND BLACK!)

Friday September 25, 2015

PETERBOROUGH chiefs intend to create a carnival atmosphere for their biggest meeting of the season.

The Readypower Panthers roar into Premier League play-offs quarter-final, second leg battle against Sheffield on Sunday (5pm).

And promoter Ged Rathbone wants the East of England Showground to be turned into a sea of red and black for one of the biggest occasions in recent Peterborough history.

Rathbone said: We have a great track, a terrific team and some of the best fans in the business.

Together we can make it an occasion which will live long in the memories and hopefully lead to even bigger meetings in the coming weeks.

I want as many people as possible to sport club colours of red and black to show that we are all one.

The more flags and signs there are the merrier as well. The same goes for drums, trumpets and air horns.

Anything that makes a noise or adds to the atmosphere is fine by me.

And as an added incentive we will pick out the person who we feel has made the most effort to win a signed race-jacket. Ill even get Ulrich Ostergaard to be the judge . . . if his foot is up to it!

And Rathbone has called on fans of other clubs in the area to flock to Alwalton for the second chapter in a bitter play-off battle.

He added: It would be fantastic to see supporters of clubs such as Leicester, Coventry, Kings Lynn, Ipswich and Rye House at the Showground on Sunday.

Were the only team in the area still in with a chance of picking up some silverware this season and we would greatly appreciate any additional backing.

This is going to be a hell of a meeting for the neutral and great racing is almost guaranteed.

Carnival atmosphere its only a Quarter- Final .

That was my initial thought. There are no prizes at this stage but progression and increasing difficulty. That's really a news item for a final so difficult to top that. However, as has been proved all season, Rathbone does his best to try and make it work so nobody can knock him for that. Ironically, if Panthers had done similar, hitting the right targets, in previous years then he, and we, would probably not be here now.

"Anything that makes a noise or adds to the atmosphere is fine by me" - I'd just like to add that if you agree with that then you better sit in the cheap seats at the EoES or stand on the grass ;)

Good job too. A tractor convoy on the A14 would play merry hell with the other Sunday drivers.

I'm sure there will be plenty of Leicester fans there, all hoping to see that elusive thing called speedway racing....... ;)

I hope a few turn out! And my lot (Stars) supporters as well. After all, our season is over with down the road.
